Read up about the macro setting on your camera, you obviously have it set to "mountain" instead of "flower". If you used a pen drive with a lid you could easily glue the lid inside the highlighter cap for a decent finished look. Failing that, with proper disassembly you could dremel the original nib holder so the USB connector passed through it. There would be enough of the original black nib base for the highlighter cap to fit on the front and still be the correct shape so it can be pulled off and placed on the back of the pen.

Hey dude! I made one of these about 2 years ago when my USB drive case broke. Works a treat.

I was looking for something cool to hide my USB pen into. This one looks great. You could probably push your picture's quality a little bit further though .... ;) Good job anyways, +1 for the idea.

Would be nice if the cap fit on the USB connector. Then again, I think USB drive manufacturers could learn a lot from marker manufacturers when it comes to making sure the cap of the USB drive fits on the rear of the drive - those things keep getting lost... BTW, I've seen some miniature highlighters that would be a much tighter fit for a USB drive - the bulky size of a standard highlighter definitely detracts from your design.

This is pretty cool, although it's so large, subtracts from the portable nature of the flash drive. I don't think I'd consider this unless my case was wrecked accidentally. The instructable is well written and easy to follow however. As a side note, admin for this site should really allow the word "instructable" to be considered a correctly spelled word when typing comments.

The word "Instructable" is a proper noun so it is always capitalized. The spell check feature fixes the capitalization.

that spelling has to do with the web browser's dictionary, since "instructable" isnt really a word, it underlines it as a wrong word, haha. you can right click, and slect add to dictionary, to make it not be a misspelled word. and to the maker, nice instructable, clearly written.
