Hollow Crispy Rice Eggs

Featured
Picture of Hollow Crispy Rice Eggs
I have been making cookies from crispy rice and marshmallows for as long as I can remember.  The other day I saw a commercial for making this wonderful treat only they were putting the crispy rice/marshmallow mixture into hallow plastic eggs, putting a small hole in the middle and sticking in a few pieces of candy and putting the two halves together, thus creating a hallow egg of crispy rice that rattled.  I just had to do it.  I hope you don’t mind that I didn’t use the brand name products to produce this fun treat.  Here we go.

Love the idea......anyone with ideas on how to properly use food coloring to make more traditional dyed egg look? Color the rice cereal before making? Use the food coloring as a "paint" (and how to mix it right to not alter the taste)? These would be great treats for Easter parties.

I have used food coloring in the marshmallow mixture before. I don't know about the food coloring paint though. Will need to do some research. Thank you for looking. Thanks for looking.
