just curious; does it hurt you if you hit someone with them? They seem like they would hurt you as well lol Cool that you can make your own, they look nice!

WeaponCollector, I have a permanent injured middle knuckle on my right hand, so that I can't make a full fist. Can I order a custom made knuckle from you?

I don't know, I guess I figured when you hit someone that the force would push your fingers down on them... or something along those trails of thought haha

These can def. hurt your hand if you hit someone/thing with enough power. If the the thing is someone's face, then of course it will hurt them significantly more than it it'll hurt you.

How about re-editing the video so that we do not have to stare at your hand for 2minutes. Yes, we see the brass knuckles, and we see another pair. 2 and half minutes is just you turn it different directions. If you really want this to "instruct" then how at even a bit of detail of the smoothing process, the polishing, ect.

In case you didn't notice, this was posted in the video section to show off what people made, not the instructables section, where people instruct people.

sorry my bad, did not notice the what section it was in. I did watch the one where you show one being built, nice. Brass Knuckles will get you a felony charge in many US states, so those wanting to make some....dont carry them around outside your own property line.

I think the point mossDboss is making is that this site focuses on instructional content. Read any other Instructable and you will see they are almost always "How I made _" rather than "the _ I made". This isn't quite as rigorously enforced for videos and slideshows as for full Instructables, but the idea is the same.

Essentially, with no instructional content this video is purely promotional for your own site and other videos, and we consider that to be spam. Your "How to make knuckle dusters" and "How to make wooden knuckle dusters" videos are perfectly OK because they actually tell the viewer how to do something, but these two more recent videos are unnecessary- you could, for instance, have a quick shot showing the finished products at the end of the other videos.

Oh, and in response to "If you don't like it don't watch it"- some people actually read every new Instructable, and there was even a guy who commented on every new Instructable until videos were introduced. "If you don't like it don't watch it" isn't an excuse for producing sub-standard content- that's what makes us different from YouTube. We aim for all of the content on the site to be good quality, and that is why people will challenge you for videos like this one.

Hope that explains things a bit better.

do you run this site "we consider that to be spam " whats it got to do with you . its just a video , is every one on this site weird or what ?
Sep 8, 2008. 4:48 PMPKM says:
OK- I apologise, the "we consider this spam" was presumptuous. No, I don't run the site but I've been around it for a while and like to think I have a decent idea of the general standards. That said... if you read WeaponCollector's post in reply to mine, he took the suggestion in good grace and seemed to be interested in the accepted way to do things. I wasn't criticising, I was giving advice to someone who had been a member for all of about 24 hours. That, by the way, is perfectly normal behaviour for this site, so if that's what you mean by "is everyone on this site weird" then yes, we like to give new people good advice rather than just flame out minor mistakes. I read some of the comments you've made and it really seems you are intent on flaming, criticising and insulting people and not making many helpful comments. There are plenty of places on the internet where you can troll to your heart's content- this isn't one of them. If you continue to act as you are doing now, you can expect to be banned very shortly.

that was the best reply i have ever had at least you talk sense . if i get banned so be it,but as for giving advice thats not the way i see it, some people just seem to want to say how bad things are ,even comment on grammar and how thing are spelt ,and say thats not the way to do it ,its got to be done like this . i only critisize the people i think are badly criticising you are the only person who has written back with any sense

Shut up. You're the freak, freak . This guy actually made some I'bles already, and you like just joined around 3 days ago with no I'ble and you trash talk. That kind of language is not acceptable here. This is a well-debated community, unlike places like YouTube where you can just swear your brains out. Seriously dude, you just joined . Talk like that more and you'll be banned.

No, I don't have the power to. But the site's owner, Eric, will not tolerate that kind of behavior.
Sep 9, 2008. 3:32 PMjohnjayrambo says:
so are you gonna be banned as well you just told me to shut up and called me a freak i,m not gonna argue now i know you are 14. all i was doing was defending the maker of the instuctable just like you were defending the person i wrote to
Sep 9, 2008. 3:36 PMCamisado says:
Well, I am simply calling you freak because you said that first. I wouldn't be banned, because I am merely defending the person you are attacking. And if you wanna protect the guy, fine, but please make your comments a little more constructive.
Sep 9, 2008. 3:40 PMjohnjayrambo says:
according to you,re profile you,ve already had a temporary ban
Sep 9, 2008. 3:46 PMCamisado says:
Yes, but that is not concerning you. That is not something like this, where it is a simple defending the opposition thing, it's something much worse.

what about using a larger drill press, and a 1/2-1" bimetal hole saw? lube it up real good with oil,for brass. some kind of parafin based lube for aluminum. centerpunch the hole locations, predrill with a TiN coated drill bit with lube that is smaller than the bit on the hole saw, and then use the hole saw to drill through it. go slow. you might want to skip the lube on the aluminum, and just go slow. make sure the bits dont overheat. it wouldnt elimenate the hole drilling, but it would save some time. you would need to file the holes to shape, though. you need to do that anyways. Alternately, you could make a pattern out of wood and cast it, the finish it by hand. that WOULD be easier if you already had the setup.
