(Requested by: GorillazMiko)

The Alternative is chocolate ice cream all you need is:

1 Tablespoon of Cocoa

1 Tablespoon of Sugar

1 Cup of Milk

(Follow the directions as if you are making vanilla ice cream)

i did this about like an hour ago, i used watered condensed milk but it won't turn into creamy texture! i already put the salt in but it won't work and now i'm putting it on the freezer! help
Since my family likes ice cream, and I happen to have a 4 quart ice cream maker, I think im going to make this recipe tomorrow.
Do you crush the ice cubes before you put them in with the vanilla salt and milk?
I don't think so, the vanilla, milk and sugar is in the small bag, which is in the big bag where the ice and salt is.
I tried the recipe. I shook the big bag abd the small one, but after a good 7 minutes of shaking it was like icecream that melts- creamy but not solid. What did I do wrong? I double-bagged the small one to avoid salt leaking in, and only had about 1 and a half traysworth of ice. What could have affected it turning out so... bleh? (By the way, Im freezing it now, will that ruin it?)
try what i did blend it instead of using a bag it comes out with a texture slightly thinner than a Wendy's frosty
oh no its kumon i have to do it and i am at lvl g and it is boring easy and hopfully i will be able to drop out soon and i agree with freakinslop it is pure evil
i don't get what the ingredients for the chocolate ice cream are can you explain please?
1 Tablespoon of Cocoa

1 Tablespoon of Sugar

1 Cup of Milk

of course u still need the ziplock bags, ice, salt----basically u follow the same steps to make the vanilla icecream but u use diffrent ingredients ( the 1s i listed b4) =) have a good day
Your sugar looks like cocaine!!!
He's Right! It does look like cocaine! lol
how would you guys know?
you've never seen coke?..or atleast a immitation?
lol
Its vannila coke ice cream :D
who says it isn't?
this is the best non machine ice cream recipe ever the chocolate is delicious
can you show how to make coffee ice cream?
I freaking love coffee ice cream
it was really good but after i took the first bite i added sugar cause it wasnt sweet enough.....GREAT NICE JOB!!
why do you need two different size bags?
also, i'd puy food coloring in the chocolate icecream. if not the coco is in there like little specks
to avoid the salt perdicament, put the bag with the cream mix into another bag. shaking might take longer though
It's... decent but the problem is the salt seeps in and ruins everything so i'd try without the salt
I am going to try it right now! I'll tell you afterwards how it turns out... HOPEFULLY GOOD!!! so excited.
Just curious, would it make a difference if I only used one tray of ice? I don't really have enough trays ):
This was good. Couple of notes: 1) Vanilla flavor was a little stronger than it needed to be in my batch. 1/8 tsp may be sufficient 2) I only had to shake for about 5 minutes, not 10 3) I used a quart sized ziplock as my large bag, and a sandwich sized one as the small bag, and it worked fine. Less ice is needed with these sizes, of course. 4) Be very careful when extracting the ice cream from the inner bag not to let the saltwater drip into the bowl. Salt does not improve the taste of this treat!
Can i use the chocolate recipe but instead of cocoa vanilla?
The sakt is kinda weird
Can you puree a fruit, (per say, strawberries?) then add to the smaller bag mixture?
great idea, i just tried it! it's soooooo good, if you want a flavor then just add it (if it is smushable) such as strawberries and blueberries. It was a good, one-serving ice cream
can you use regular salt or do you have to use rock salt does it still turn out the same?
I think you can use normal salt because it's there to make it have a low freezing point
Why do you have to use rock salt? Can you use regular salt for the same results?
mmmmm this stuff is awesome, im eating rihgt now, Great instructable =]
I've read this somewhere before... Can't remember where... Anyway this looks yum!!! (Or how do I know you didn't take the smaller bag out, fill it with store-bought ice-cream and put it back in to take more photos???)
the last time i did this i took the smaller bag with the ingredients and put it in a coffee can filled with ice, salt, and water. then just roll it around until the ice cream is ready.
Oh wow I've got to try this!!! It looks yummy! By the way, can somebody tell me what is wrong with double posting? I'm new and i don't get it.
Double posting is when you post two comments on one 'ible. It is looked down upon in my book, but not really unless yo pass 3 posts.
If you do need to double post, reply to your own comment, like what I am doing here.
this stuff goes awesome with homemade coconut macaroons
I think what you made isn't really an ice-cream, but it's more like sorbet, but no matter what it is, the idea is very interesting. And that's the first time i really followed the guide here. I've just made some changes to my version, adding doufu (Chinese bean curd), and some salt (sugar too) into the milk to make the taste of milk more appealing. When I was young, I used to eat something called "Fried ice", which was basically what you did now, but your method is much simpler and easier to do at home. Thanks a lot!
do you mean gelato since its made from milk i could be wrong but i think that sorbet is made with fruit
no dude.. it is ice cream.. all teachers have made i this way when i was in school .for the past 8 years we had a party at schpool we made our own ice cream. and this is the way they made it...
No Problem, Glad you liked it!
kumon is pure evil i was at j level but then i dropped out :P
Ok, this was really good after I got it right. My problem is that salt got into the smaller bag, even though I was using a really thick, good, zip-lock bag inside. It made it terrible, so I just taped the inside bag with a line of good packing tape, and it held great, and when I opened it, the tape came off nice and easy and no salt got into the icecream. Thanks, and it was really good. I made banana, then orange and then, maple, which was REALLY good. I just used extracts for it.

I HATE KUMON!!!!

Lol :)
I used to do Kumon!
