Introduction: Home-made Plant-boxes

If you don't have a large garden you can make your own small plant-boxes from things you find around the house. You can grow your own plants and plant them in any shape you like.

Step 1: Find the Things You Need

Look around the house to find things you can use to make the plant-boxes, they need to be waterproof and easy to cut. You will also need a sharp knife and a few different sorts of plant-seeds.

Step 2: Prepare the Boxes

Now you need to prepare the boxes before you can sow the seeds.

If you use a milk-carton, like I did, you need to cut them down the middle so you have two "boxes". You can also use a carton that is already open.

You then need to cut some holes in the bottom of the boxes with the sharp knife to let out access water so the seeds won't drown.

Step 3: Sow the Seeds

Now you can sow the seeds in the boxes. Read the instructions on the back of the packet as the process may very a bit depending on which seeds you choose.

The most frequent process is starting with a thin layer of dirt, after which you carefully sow some seeds. Then cover the seeds with a thicker layer of dirt, gently push the dirt down and give the seeds some water.

Water the seeds frequently (see instructions on the seed packet to see how many times is recommended) and keep them out of harsh sunlight.

Step 4: Take Care of the Seeds

After awhile your seeds will start to grow. Keep taking care of them and let them grow large enough so you can take them out and re-plant them.

Step 5: Re-plant

Once the plants are big enough you can take them out of the smaller boxes and put them in a bigger one so they can grow more. You can find bigger boxes around the house as well, make sure you make holes in the bottom to let out the access water.

You can plant the small plants in any shape you like, like this X shape or any other shape you like.
