Introduction: Homemade Custom Guitar Picks
Follow this instructable to learn how to make custom guitar picks
Step 1: Materials
You will need: -printer paper -a clear, hard plastic card cover -packing tape -a guitar pick -a pencil -a pen -colored pencils -scissors -white glue -150 grit sandpaper
Step 2: Cutting the Card Case
As you can see, the card case has a thick edge. Simple it this off with scissors to get two sheets of plastic, and some scraps
Step 3: Cutting Out the Pick
Hold a guitar pick on the plastic, and cut around it.
Step 4: Sanding the Pick
run the edges of the plastic pick along the sandpaper to make it less choppy.
Step 5: Tracing the Pick
Trace the plastic pick with pencil on the printer paper twice
Step 6: Drawing!
Now draw whatever you want inside the two traces of the pick. One will be the front, the other will be the back. I decided to draw link, and the triforce.
Step 7: Cut Out the Traces
Eeyup. Just cut them out.
Step 8: Glueing the Traces
Put a small dot of glue onto one side of the plastic pick, and smear it around with some scrap paper. Place one trace onto the glue, and apple pressure. When it dries, repeat with the other trace on the other side of the pick. Feel free to trim the traces after glueing them to the pick.
Step 9: Prepare the Tape
Cut three strips of packing tape that are about three times the length of the pick
Step 10: Taping the Pick
Place the pick near the middle of one of the tape strips. Make sure the bottom is completely covered, and the top is facing the middle of the tape. Then fold the tape in half and trim. Repeat this with the other two sides facing the middle.
Step 11: Finished!
You now have a custom guitar pick! You can choose to file it again, or add more tape if you want to. Please comment pictures of all your homemade custom picks! Cheers! -dormint
Step 12: Epilouge
well... i just found out that the glue sort of deteriorates after a while... so i might suggest using super, or hot glue, spread thin across the plastic. oops! :(
We have a be nice policy.
