Homemade Holidays Contest Winners

Instructables, The Wand Company, and Shapeways are happy to announce the winners of the Homemade Holidays Contest!

There were an amazing 256 (28!) entries in the contest. All sorts of presents and decorations were entered. If you haven't taken the time to check out the entries we urge you to do so now. The winners below are fantastic, but there was so much more. The ideas out there were great.

We'd like to thank our partners for putting up prizes in the contest. We'd also like to thank all of the judges who helped out: starshipminivan, gmjhowe, emattrose, bloomautomatic, =SMART=, onebrokenneck, flaming_pele!, dragonfyredawn, and macgeek800.

And now, on with the winners!

I just got my prize in the post. Thanks!

Did anyone else get an extra random PCB? Along with the hackable christmas card came a "CNC Winder Controller Board Ver. 1.0". Ummmmm......
Jan 31, 2010. 12:41 PMlaxap says:
I got this PCB too, and asked  StumpChunkman, who told me it was a mistake (primarily from their Chinese PCB supplier) and we can keep the boards.

I sure want to make a CNC project one day, but did not plan so soon, and don't have the time now.

If not CNC, let's see what cool project we could make with it... Tell us if you have good ideas!

A reprap is on my list of things to make when I get time, though a CNC machine would be cool too :D

Which is 256...where do you get that huge number from?!
Jan 26, 2010. 3:39 AMJayefuu says:
The exclamation mark on the end means factorise.
Jan 26, 2010. 9:32 AMchimpanzeeboy says:
Ah, yeah, I guess so, but I don't think they meant it mathematically, it was just for emphasis :)

Phew, I was shakin' in my booties for days.  I'm still a bit shocked to have taken a 1st place.  That's just wild especially with such awesome projects, and I'm just honored to be among some of the projects I particularly enjoyed.  There are some projects that were very awesome but didn't make it to finalist, but there really were a lot of amazing entries.  I'm certainly glad I wasn't one of the judges.  Picking finalists and winners would have stressed me out.

Congratulations to all the winners ! And to all the entrants !

I thought the "Sewing machine to scroll saw" ible was particularly awesome :D

256 is 2^8 hence all of the possibilities of a byte.

Many thanks to all those who voted and judged - 256 fantastic projects! My kids are now demanding that next year's Christmas tree is an anti-gravity Tesla Tornado with Death Star topper... uh-oh...
Thanks also to the Instructables staff, the Wand Company and Shapeways for supporting the competition.
