- If you're putting these on public property, don't be stupid.

- There's no one way to get a design on the sheet. Silk screening is definitely more work but gives it a homemade feel. Getting them printed at a print shop will give you VERY high quality prints with fabulous colors but I doubt they won't fade in the sun. Kinko's usually charges $0.50 for a black and white print and $0.75 to $1.00 for color prints.

- Make a ton and give them out to friends.

-Try to see how big you can print one just for kicks. There were some plotters in the lower design labs in my school so I printed one out that's about 4' long by 2' wide. I did not make this a sticker, instead it's a poster in my friend's room. :p

- Read the comments, some people have suggested other directions you could go with this.

Hey! SirBrittanicvs! Thanks! I've been making home-made sstickers for YEARS, and now i'm experimenting with different ways to make them, without buying any pre-made materials (i.e ritrama/duramark removable adhesive poly-vinyl 2mm clear-or white-27"x24" sheets)**

I've experimented with Super 77 or 45, spray tac (spray adhesive/glue), on the back of the sticker sheets, then wax-paper over that. cut them out and peel and stick at will...it's hit or miss...

Nope! MOD Podge (not Modge! hee hee!) is a polymer so when it dries, it's done, though it DOES get milky colored if it gets wet after it's cured. HOWEVER, you CAN use it to seal the top, rather than the tape! You'd want to seal first, and let it dry completely, then put the glue on the back. Any other kind of white glue works fine.

so if it gets wet then the sticker would be ruined? i dont see how it would be good for waterproofing if it turns milky white when wet :/

Not ruined, no. It's milky if it stays soaked...and no homemade sticker is going to withstand long term soaking! It turns milky, but will clear back up when it dries again. So, not my first choice for Washington State or Oregon!

If you go to a local shop that makes vinyl stickers you can get any design you want for alot cheaper than you would think. I recently ordered 50 stickers and they were 1 1/2 inch X 4 1/2 inch and they only cost me 5 dollars for all of them. You can also go in with your own design and have those made up bigger stickers usually cost .50 cents to 1 dollar a piece but that is for 3-4 colors and that is basically bumper sticker size. I think what you have done here is cool if you want to do a project or have a hobby. And it is a great tutorial especially the adhesive part. The best thing is when you do something you like and have fun doing it. Good how to. Keep up the good work.

thank you for this tut! I absolutely LOVE it!! stickers are my friends =] quick question though: do you think you could you modge podge instead of elmers? cause its white and glue-like but I don't know if it'll work the same

I don't know if it would work as the adhesive but modgepodge works great for waterproofing it and I use it as a substitute for the contact paper or tape. this also eliminates size restraints.

You can get stickers that will resist fading in the sun from your local large format print shop (aka: FastSigns, Sign-a-Rama, or you local shop that does vehicle wraps or outdoor signs/banners). Just be sure to ask for a UV resistant inks. The inks will resist fading over the years in most circumstances, but some fading can occur depending on the kind of sun exposure your sticker will see.
