Homemade Vacuum Sealer

Step 2Procedure

1. Place food or other stuff into Ziploc bag and seal across except for about 1".

2. Place Ziploc inside Space Bag.

3. Fold cloth (I used a small dish towel folded over a few times) and place directly beneath the one-way valve on the Space Bag. Position the open section of the Ziploc near the edge of the towel. If you don't use the towel, the Space Bag tends to get stuck to the back of the one-way valve and that prevents the vacuum from pulling all the air from the bag. Positioning the Ziploc close to the towel just makes the process go faster.

4. Zip up the Space Bag, turn on the vacuum cleaner and use the hose to suck the air out of the Space Bag through the one-way valve. As the air is pulled from the Space Bag, it also exits the Ziploc inside the Space Bag.

5. When the vacuum is sufficient in your food/stuff bag, turn off the vacuum cleaner, press the Ziploc closed through the Space Bag, open the Space Bag, and remove your vacuum sealed food/stuff bag.
