You don't have to use Ziploc or Space Bag brands. I just like the thickness and double closure on the Ziploc for freezer storage, and I figured that most everyone would recognize the Space Bag name.

Awesome! I was pondering DIY vacuum food storage and vacuum bagging for sous vide cooking, and I had this exact same idea yesterday! Gonna try it later on today.
