Every fish owner knows how expensive a decent filter can be, this tutorial is how to make an aquarium filter for around $10.
For this instructable you'll need:
-1/2" pvc elbow
-1/2" pvc end cap
- filter media of choice ( gravel, foam balls, etc...)
- air pump
- air stone
- drill with 1/4" bit
Step 1: Step 1: Prepping your parts
First off you need to drill a hole in the top of the pvc elbow and thread the airline tubing through it. Next cut slits in the bottom of the pvc end cap. In the second diagram it shows where to cut the container.
Step 2: Step 2: The Main Put-Together
Take hold of the airline tubing that was threaded through the pvc elbow and connect an airstone to it. Then thread it through the pvc and connect the elbow to it and connect the end cap to the bottom of the pvc. Do not glue the pvc together in any way, shape or form so that you can replace the airstone at any time. Connect the pvc elbow to the container through the hole that was cut earlier and glue it down with any non-water soluble glue that you have at your disposal.
Step 3: HAVE FUN WITH YOUR HOMEBUILT FILTER!!!
