id make the movment of your player higher then your running speeds, cuz it would kill after a long time, so then the games still enjoyable :P

Finally, someone who is witness to the wonderful weightloss program known as WoW. everyone always assumes that because I sit at my computer 19 hours a day just to play wow, that I'm going to suddenly get fat >.<

which makes my observation weird...I know a flat of weedy thin guys who all play that game. lol! I suppose they are so busy gaming they forget to eat at all....

says:
I suppose either is possible. My ex girlfriend turned blob though and her colon stopped working from lack of movement. She just sat in that chair until the servers went down and she went on the forums or just fell asleep on the keyboard, I broke up about three years ago and last I heard she's sitting in an apartment with some other guys smoking weed, eating burgers and playing WoW. I don't blame the game, I've pulled a few three-day-shifts on Lemmings and Diablo myself. But I think the infinite-levels and lack of a pause-button makes some ppl play in a very destructive way.

yeah, the computer game diet. you just forget to eat.
Nov 18, 2008. 8:12 AMbleachworthy
says:
WRONG. you don't forget to eat, it's position in your list of priorities just drops dramatically.

Im not a WoW playa but im wondering would this enable you to move faster??? Buying a treadmill seems like a waste of time, money and space! how bout a rig to hold the back wheel of your bike up and put the mouse attachment on that plus theres a seat! But....that kinda defeats the running purpose, just an idea for people with tight budgets.

Wow, thats awesome I also noticed you guys got hack-a-dayed!!!! Now, Where do you get the free time to think this stuff up and , more importantly, build it????

This is incredible! One step closer to virtual reality! :D I was wondering if your team has thought of a way to mod an xbox 360 controller to this set-up to be used with the 360?
Oct 21, 2008. 11:48 PMManaEnergyPotion (author)
says:
We haven't messed with the 360 controllers for modding much, every time we try to look at them we end up just playing a game. I would think you could make some very analog setup where you jump out one of the pots in the joystick and use a little generator with a circuit or another device to make the treadmill control the resistance on that axis. I'm not sure exactly how to do it though.
Nov 5, 2008. 1:58 PMDEFDOM DELTA
says:
Or maybe if instead of the treadmill controlling the game... (Still talking about an xbox 360 mod-- actually any platform mod... including PC) what if the game controlled the treadmill speed? For instance, pushing a joystick forward initiates the treadmill motor.

says:
haha I see what you mean. Hmm... using an analog setup... that would be interesting to see. I was thinking more of an electronic method.

I think if you had to run to stay alive in Halo, you'd be doomed. lol Still, love this idea. Always liked integrating exercise with video games. Too of my favorite hobbies when I want to relax. (Yes, I consider exercise relaxing. Good job Mana team.

I must make this... seriously like if I could do this it would make WoW so much more cool... Would be better if you could somehow get the weapons to work like magnetically or something.
Actually why not use one of those ones that generate their own power, plug in the computer (or xbox perhaps), so you have to keep going to keep the game running.
Oct 23, 2008. 2:27 PMcamieac
says:
Wouldn't it be a lot easier if you simply placed the mouse on the belt of the treadmill its self. Instead of building the wheel stand and all. Its just a suggestion, because your way envolves constructing which makes it more of a challeng to build. Which is more fun than my easy way i supose.

Just putting the mouse on the treadmill wouldn't work... It just be sitting there, and you don't use your mouse to run around.

HI! Great Idea, But what would be more apreciated would be a generater for a tv (thats motion sensetive, and only the Tv) so when you run. it powers sTV and you can keep your games plugged in! I think this is a great start

My friend and me, when I was littler, always thought it would be cool to do something like this. We decided not to mess with his mom's treadmill (or incur her wrath if we broke it) and we called it off as a lost cause. This is so cool, but very simple, fun, and interesting. If I exercised while I played WoW, I think I would be a track star! Great Job (if my appreciation amounts to anything) and I might just make this, just to see how well I do on it.
