Hey! So this is how to clean your Alex And Ani Bracelet. As owners of these might know, they tend to get dark spots on them, which I don't like. So, with that being said, here is how to get rid of them! Also, I called the company and asked them what kind of soap to use, so I'm not just making this up! Please let me know if this worked! Post comments, favorite, and follow!
Send me a picture of your Alex and Ani bracelets in the comments! <3

Step 1: Supplies

1.) soft toothbrush
2.) dawn or palm olive dish soap.
3.) Alex And Ani Bracelet.
4.) water/sink or basin.
NOTE- warm water is for washing, cool water is for rinsing.

Step 2:

Fill sink with water. While the water is still running, squeeze some soap in there.

Step 3:

The water should end up looking like this.

Step 4:

Now, allow bracelets to soak in the water while we prep our toothbrush.

Step 5:

Pour a dab of soap on your toothbrush like you would with toothpaste.

Step 6:

If you have more than one bracelet, like me, then while you are cleaning one, allow the other to soak.

Step 7:

Choose a bracelet to start with and grab the toothbrush and GENTLY scrub the bracelet. If you scrub too hard the finish will come off (it happened to me unfortunately)

Step 8:

When cleaned, bracelet should look like this.

Step 9:

Once you have rinsed your bracelets with COOL water, dry thoroughly in a towel.

Step 10: Tips and Care

-use warm water in washing, cool water in rinsing.
- dry well before storing
-always remove jewelry before swimming, bathing, doing chores, or using abrasive cleaners
- never use jewelry cleaner
-avoid direct contact with beauty products
(Makeup), and perfume
- Alex And Ani Bracelets are made of recycled material, so it goes through an aging process, which is just the beauty of the bracelet.

Also, Alex and Ani bracelets are made from recycled brass and they have a Russian silver or Russian gold finish.

Step 11: Cleaning Chart

In the picture above I have a cleaning chart that you can print the picture of. This idea was requested by sunshiine :)
Works perfectly;) if your jewellery tarnishes she has another tutorial on how to fix it....use ketchup for 5-10 mins then rinse in cool water and wipe off...it was awesome and shined mine right back up;)

I am so excited to try this. I wear my bracelets daily. Altering between gold and silver. And have noticed the dark spots. Upon googling how to clean them i came across your post and just cant wait to try it! Thanks for this! Hope it works as well for mine&szlig;
<p>I just tried the Alex and Ani cleaning cloth, and it worked much better than the Tom's of Maine toothpaste, ketchup, and soap and water. The rep at Alex and Ani told me that that the dirtier the white cleaning part of the cloth gets, the better it cleans. Do not wash it. It did a beautiful job removing the black tarnish marks and restoring the shine. </p>
Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! I was panicking when I noticed my bracelets looking a little spotty. My sister got me some for my birthday back in Feb and I've used them daily ever since. This worked like a charm! I used dish soap, a very soft toothbrush and followed your instructions. My bracelets came out brand spanking new! Thank you!!! ?
<p>This did not work for me at all:(</p>

And yes, I did get more for my birthday! Some are not pictured though :)
What a great idea, I will edit this!
You have such a good instructable here, I am thinking if you would add information about what type of metals are in the Alex and Ani bracelets, it would be helpful to others who own a different brand. This information is available on their site under questions. It would be great to draw a chart of the cleaning recommendations so it can be printed out for the proud owner! I will try this method on some of my jewelry! Thanks for sharing this and do have a splendorous day! <br>sunshiine
