Very entertaining. My husband has been cutting his hair for years using a rechargeable type cutter. I became envious (because I can't spell jealous) and wanted to cut my womanly locks. I grab a fistful. Anything that sticks out longer than my fist is wide gets cut off. I work around my entire head cutting off anything that will stick out of my closed fist. If I have spare time, I hold it up like they do at the barbers and cut whatever is sticking up. I've done it for years now and am very happy. It works because my hair has a natural curl so any unevenness is hidden by the curling over of the hair. I wouldn't do it if my hear was dead straight.

Use your computer with a usb web cam to see the back of your head, then you still have two hands for the cutting.

Not the most useful instructable I've ever read, but certainly the funniest. Thanks.

I'm a seasoned veteran in both hair cutting and avocado growing, I think I'll put up a guide on growing the avocado stones as i have a full proof method. Nice one on the hair cut! I

I enjoyed the humour. I am facing this dilema of self affliction. I was going to the barbers today but it was full of a lot of teenagers , maybe a football team so I backed off. In the UK men are having their hair shaved or very short. I don't like that. But mine is not very long either. I tried a self cut a few weeks ago but the back was imposible to get straight. I just took a big chunk out in frustration. I am thinking of buying a $40 rechargable cutter that looks as if you can hold it straight across the back of the head easily with its long handle.. Most articles suggest you wet the hair before cutting. But hairdressers don't normaly do that. I do it using a cheap razor comb. I always like the Los Angeles method and wondered if it's still practised. A barber strapped customers to a chair and inverted them. A great idea, the hair falls straight away , so no need to brush down afterward. One last tip..be sober..unless drink calms you down.
