Halloween is our favorite holiday! It's an excuse to make cat costumes and edible eyeballs, carve jack-o-lanterns, and build a model guillotine or motion-activated bats. It's the one holiday where everyone agrees that doing it yourself is best, so what are YOU making, baking, or creating to celebrate? The world needs to know!

This year we've teamed up with the folks at SINGER, Dremel, Ponoko, Monkeylectric, and Photojojo to bring you the best Halloween contest ever. Show us what delightfully frightful things you can make, and win the tools to create something even more amazing! Every winner will also receive the Instructables Prize Pack: a one-year Pro membership, and an Instructables Robot t-shirt, patch, and stickers.

*You do not have to choose a category. Our judges will select the best fit among the Costume, Gadgets & Gizmos, Decorations, Food, Green, and Slideshow categories.
*Every Halloween-themed Instructable or slideshow posted since November 10, 2008 is eligible. Just click here enter your previously-published project.
*Multiple entries are allowed. Limit to one prize per entrant.
*International entries are allowed.

So get to it! Put your imagination and skills to good use making the world creepier place. We can't wait to see what you'll make!

Can I also enter for this contest I just got to know about instructable is there any chance
I didn't realize the deadline was PST and I missed it by 14 minutes. Can I still have my Instructable in the contest? This is ridiculously disappointing.
Dude, it's only the last continental time zone!

Don't worry, I'll put it in. :)
Oh, hooray! I'm never doubting the friendliness of the universe again! Thank you! :D
WOW! Your one lucky guy :)
hi can south Africans also enter the competition or is it America only ^_^ thanks
Africa is fine.
Just a quick question. For the costume contest, does it have to be more than one picture or pose? Or would multiple shots / slideshow be more correct?

Thanks!
what about collaborations? If i make a collaborated instructable will i still be eligible to win?
Yes. If you win there will only be one prize shipped out, however.
Okay, i'm fine with that, i just want to get credit for what i made.
Hello! i'm european to and i'd like to join too... can I??
Yes!
can Europeans join and get prizes, or is it like last year?
Open to everyone!
Hello I'm sorta new to this site, and I was wondering how to sign up for the contest? do we just go to our profile and make a slide show and you instantly enter it into the contest? or do we have to enter it into somewhere specific?

Thanks,

Takamineboy
First of all, welcome!

Put up a slideshow and when you publish it you'll see checkboxes for currently open contests that you can submit it to. Check that and it'll be submitted.

If you've already published it, then just click this link to enter it:
https://www.instructables.com/contest/enter?contestId=VFR4IV6G0KQK409

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
ok thanx
Just wondering why it will not let me enter the best Halloween Instructable ever??
Seriously I put a lot of effort in to this and it says "*Every Halloween-themed Instructable posted since November 10, 2008 is eligible."
Why cant I enter this in to the contest?

https://www.instructables.com/id/Holloween-Costume-making-with-Pepakura/

???
Jessie
PictureBandit

Your Instructable is a video. Full Instructables and slideshows are eligible, not videos.

You can always make a new slideshow.
"*Every Halloween-themed Instructable posted since November 10, 2008 is eligible. "

How hard is it to add "videos excluded"?

Every means every, not some or most. Not allowing my video implies that its not an instructable. The website has it listed under 'My Instructables".

Now that the contest has started? It's very hard.

The video category wasn't very effective and we cut it for this year's contest.

The video you have is a "video Instructable" and the text was meant to indicate the basic Instructable with steps. Sorry for the confusion, but you do have enough content to make either a slideshow or regular Instructable.
I'm really confused.........................

What you said:

"Open to enter: Nov 10, 2008 12:01 AM PST
Deadline for entries: Nov 9, 2009 11:59 PM PST"

Do you mean....

Open to enter: Oct 10, 2009 12:01 AM PST
Deadline for entries: Nov 9, 2009 11:59 PM PST

?

Please help!
It's written correctly. Anything since the previous Halloween contest closed last year can be entered.
Oh. Okay. Thanks. =D
