Picture of How to Enter the Keep the Bottle Contest

Plastic bottles deserve another chance. They take care of their precious liquid cargo when you have to drink on the go, then most of them get the old heave-ho when empty. This just isn't right, so we're having a Keep the Bottle Contest!

Show us what cool things you can do with a plastic bottle. After you've quenched your thirst, use your head to come up with some cool and funky uses for it. Whether it's super useful, artistic, or just plain silly, we want to see the creative ideas you come up with.

Post an awesome project, and win aVoltaic solar-powered backpack so you'll never run dry on green power! Not only doVoltaics keep you on the go, the fabric in the bags is made from recycled plastic bottles! We'll be giving three Converter bags away: one selected by user votes and two selected by our judges.

i have tried many times to enter my project, but it just keeps saying that it has already been entered and is pending moderator approval, have i done something wrong?

How do you get a cat to wear a tennis ball crash helmet?

You have to wait for the approval. ;) Just wait it out, once business hours roll around and they take a look it'll show up. :)

thepelton (author)2009-05-28

Someone needs to start thinking of what to do with those foil Caprisun juice bags.

8bit (author)2009-01-13

Hmm, so you have to pay taxes on it, but there is no guarantee that it is actually useful for anything nor is even necessarily in working condition. Lawyers just go and mess everything up, don't they?

E-R-IC (author)8bit2009-02-10

yup. sadly

Squidbillie (author)2009-02-02

I know that the voting has already started. I also know that I entered last minute. But several other Instructables have been entered and mine still hasn't been . Yes I did enter it in time. Does anyone know what's going on?

downwithwikihow (author)2009-01-17

Can I enter this from Pakistan?

canida (author)downwithwikihow2009-01-30

downwithwikihow (author)2009-01-17

Derin (author)2009-01-09

photozz (author)Derin2009-01-12

um.. shoes?

Yerboogieman (author)2009-01-11

How would you pronounce "Tap'dNY"?

"tapped new york"

Berkin (author)2009-01-12

Hey, minors can actually enter this contest! Hooray!

Weissensteinburg (author)2009-01-08

You're practically forcing me to take up my water bottle raft again!

canida (author)Weissensteinburg2009-01-08

Wow, what a horrible fate. *twists arm some more*

gmjhowe (author)canida2009-01-09

*Twists other arm*

jessyratfink (author)gmjhowe2009-01-11

*twists leg*

Fine, i'll do it! After studying today, i'm going to home depot to check out the pvc chicken wire/safety fence prices and sizes.

Yessss! You can do it, mister! It could definitely win. :D

I'm gonna do a miniature version. 1000 bottles would cost me too much in materials, and would be massive. Even 500 bottles is pretty big.

gmjhowe (author)Weissensteinburg2009-01-11

*twists other leg*

OH! sorry, didnt see you had given it up already... my bad.

Lithium Rain (author)2009-01-08

Are projects involving any type of plastic bottle/container eligible? Such as shampoo or soap bottles, milk cartons, etc.

canida (author)Lithium Rain2009-01-08

As usual, we try to interpret the theme broadly. Go for it!

Lithium Rain (author)canida2009-01-08

jeff-o (author)Lithium Rain2009-01-08

I think as long as it's plastic, it counts.

Kiteman (author)2009-01-08

Are we allowed to enter existing projects?

canida (author)Kiteman2009-01-08

You can also improve upon previous projects.

Kiteman (author)canida2009-01-09

Ah-ha, then I have one.

Although it will look kind of silly if the ground doesn't thaw in time...

fungus amungus (author)Kiteman2009-01-08

As long as it hasn't been published here before, you're OK.

jongscx (author)Kiteman2009-01-08

so long as it hasn't been entered before methinks...

Sunbanks (author)2009-01-08

Yesssss! I have a great idea for this contest! I just need a few dozen plastic bottles...

stalledaction (author)2009-01-08

Guess is has to be PLASTIC bottles. Too bad for all the used glass bottles lying around my room.

astro boy (author)2009-01-08

are we aloud to use the bottle and some other things and would you put a limit on how many difrent things you could use

canida (author)astro boy2009-01-08

So long as it incorporates a reused plastic bottle, you're good to go!

astro boy (author)canida2009-01-08

ItsTheHobbs (author)2009-01-08

robbtoberfest (author)2009-01-08
