Picture of How To Enter the ThinkGeek Hacks Contest
The gadgets and toys offered by the monkeys at ThinkGeek are pretty amazing right out of the box. But what happens when you take one nifty product and apply your own geekery?

A little soldering and a handful of LEDs later you might have something really special--a blow on/off USB snowman with iPhone sync and cat noises, for instance. And who wouldn't want one of those!?

So here's our challenge to you: use any ThinkGeek product to create something wondrous, publish it here on Instructables, and enter to win the $250 ThinkGeek gift certificate for the best mod. Two first prize winners will each win a $50 gift certificate and an Instructables Robot t-shirt. Runners-up will win an Instructables Robot t-shirt.

Grand Prize
$250 gift certificate to ThinkGeek plus an Instructables Robot t-shirt, patch, and stickers.

*Update* The folks over at ThinkGeek have talked with the contest team at Instructables and have decided to extend the ThinkGeek Hacks contest for an extra week. Take the extra time and submit something amazing!
Thinkgeek is terribly over priced
not in all cases...they got some pretty good deals on hard to find stuff......
anything they have you can find cheaper. you just got to know what your doing
But they have such neat stuff... :<
Fortunately you can find that neat stuff much cheaper elsewhere! yay!

Timmy the Monkey, you out did yourself this time.

You can ship to Ghana, Zimbabwe and Guam but you can't ship to your next door neighbor?

Check out the quality of work you are missing on:

Does the Instructable have to be made after the start date, or can we already use an Instructable that modified a ThinkGeek product from a previous date?
I read through the rules, but didn't find my answer...
As with all the contests, the dates refer to the publish date.

Cool, but do we have to BUY from thinkgeek ? can similar or the same gadget be hacked and entered ? will the ThinkGeek judges be biased towards actual thinkgeek products ? Also aren't the TGeek judges mare likley to choose an expensive product that has been hacked, so it the ible will get thousands of view and they will get higher sales ? Im sure the judges are fair and cool but i'm just looking at this from a business point of view
