Introduction: How to Fix Your Stinger R34 Airsoft Gun

Picture of How to Fix Your Stinger R34 Airsoft Gun

This instructable shows you how to fix the Stinger R34, although since the concept is generally similar for most spring-powered airsoft guns, you should be able to use this for other guns.

NOTE: Before doing this instructable make sure that the gun is discharged in a safe direction.

UPDATE: I added Step 12 since the super glue didn't do the trick. I recommend you do all the steps for maximum strength.

Step 1: The Tools

Picture of The Tools

You don't need much.

Super Glue --Highly reccomended. Holds great.
Medium screwdriver--For removing screws around the rails
Small screwdriver --For removing screws on the side
Paper clip --For reinforcement, not shown in this instructable
Drill bit --For reinforcement, not shown in this instructable

Step 2: Take the Accessories Off

Picture of Take the Accessories Off

This is easy
Take off the clip (push the button and pull)
Take off the stock (pull the button and lift)
Unscrew any accessories on the rails in front and take off.

Step 3: Take Off the Rails

Picture of Take Off the Rails

The steps to do this are as follows:
1: Pull the ring back
2: Pull off bottom
3: Pull off top
4: Slide ring and spring foreward and unscrew piece shown in 3:

Step 4: Unscrew the Side of the Gun.

There are a lot of screws
You'll need to unscrew them all and put them someplace where you won't lost them or knock them off the table.

Step 5: Pull Off the Side of the Gun

Picture of Pull Off the Side of the Gun

You'll need to lift the front end first because otherwise the cocking arm will catch the side and cause more problems than you really want.

Step 6: Glue All Pieces Together/Back in Place

Picture of Glue All Pieces Together/Back in Place

Glue any pieces that snapped off the gun into the proper place. If a piece is broken in two spots, glue it together before putting it into the gun.
In pic. 1 the piece just had to be glued into the right place.
In pic. 2 the 2 pieces had to be glued together then glued into place.
pic. 3 shows how the gun is properly assembled.

Step 7: Put the Side Back On

Picture of Put the Side Back On

Just do this the same way you took it off. Make sure it is nice and flush in all areas then screw all the screws that look like this onto the side

Step 8: Put the Spring and Ring Back On

Picture of Put the Spring and Ring Back On

Screw on the small ring with the two short screws. The black barrel will need to be in the proper place or the sides will not close for you.

Step 9: Replace the Rails

Picture of Replace the Rails

Simply pull back on the ring and pop the rails back into place.

Step 10: UH-OH THERE'S STILL SOME PIECES

Picture of UH-OH THERE'S STILL SOME PIECES

Wondering where these pices go??
They go right by the clip.

Fit the L shaped one into the slot that is shaped like it and push the cylindrical shaped part through to the other side.

Put the spring around the cylindrical shaped part protruding from the other side

Screw the oval-shaped piece onto the cylindrical shaped part.

Step 11: You're Done!!

Picture of You're Done!!

FIRE AWAY!!!

But make sure you wear proper eye protection so that you don't get blinded by a ricochet.

Step 12: The XTRA Reinforcement

OK...
The super glue held for a couple games of airsofting, but then it broke again and left me in exactly the same spot. So... Here's what I did: (sorry, but i didn't take any pics)

Materiels for this step:
-Drill (I used a drill press but a handheld might work)
-Paper Clip (the bigger the better)
-Small drill bit (same size as paper clip)

1: Drill a hole at the pivot point for the broken part (This is when the gun is closed)

2: Stick a paper clip into the hole

3: Cut off the paper clip with some sticking out of each side then bend the ends over.

My problem is the little thing that cocks the gun broke, so I need a new piece. If anyone could point me in the direction of a full part diagram that would be great. And I know what you may be thinking, "why doesn't he just try this?" Well I tried this and about 10 other things, but none of them work. So if someone could just help....

jnauert (author)2011-07-20

i recommend doing the last step with a paper clip, not gluing it, it works so much better and my rifle shoots again!

Ktanimation (author)2011-02-10

Thank you for uploading this.
I learned a lot from it and was able to fix my rifle.

travis21111 (author)2010-09-02

I put mine back togeather but the thing that holds the bullets wont stay in and i was wondering if you have a picture of how the metal barrel looks on the inside of the gun

Closest i got is step 5 pic 2 I don't have my gun here so I can't take any better ones for you. Sorry

travis21111 (author)2010-09-01

my cocking mechanism fell off when i took apart my gun how do i put it back on because i don't know where the spring goes

kinda hard to tell exactly what you mean but check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FarmwNtDD34 to see if it helps. If not, post some pics and I can try to help.

killersquirel11 (author)2009-11-29

not yet... might see if I can make it so when I go home this winter but idk if it will work.

mr.fikeus (author)2009-06-02

You guys know how to fix a smith and wesson m3000 shotgun? the pump doesn't work!

Tannersdumb (author)mr.fikeus2009-11-10

Ill take it off your hands.

idk but I would probably take it apart somehow and look for a broken piece or a piece that's floating around

It all ready apart and i glued the part back together but the pump spring doesnt want to work right

Superglue should do the trick.  If you're still stumped, post a picture.

sharlston (author)2009-07-26

this is a specifi gun sit should be named how to fix the(name here) not how to fix a airsoft gun

allegfede (author)2009-07-10

Maybe next time you can buy a real airsoft gun.
There are some chinese models, 90% metal builded with steel gearbox for less then 200$ (100$ if you buy directly from Honk Kong).

with full metal guns, you do not need to repair for a long time ;)

this in photo is from chinese online shop for US$95.00 + s&h

hope to be usefull ;)

Ya, but i bought this for like $5 on ebay cuz it was broken and I was pretty sure I could fix it

sharlston (author)2009-05-24

erm ive got a diasy red rider that needs fixing and that hasent even got all the things on a shotgun so it should be called how to fix your stinger r34

untitled (author)2009-04-06

i have the same gun just black (Stinger R34) but i got an m60 and a sniper now

grimfig (author)2008-08-04

You Should change the title so it says "How to Fix your Stinger R34"

killersquirel11 (author)grimfig2008-08-09

I purposely didn't do that because the concept of most spring loaded airsoft guns is about the same so if you know how one is put together and know how to fix it, you can proabably fix another

Well, then you should change it to, "How to fix your spring loaded Airsoft gun" I'm sure the same wouldn't apply to an AEG, or a Co2 gun.

S1L3N7 SWAT (author)2008-09-24

I have that same gun. It was one of the first airsoft guns I bought. The pins on the trigger broke, so I had to dremel some of the internals off, drill a hole through the trigger and put in a new pin(actually just a screw). I also had to pun in a pin for the spring, it was one that held the spring for the trigger in place. 2 years later it still works! I don't use it, I've moved on to AEG's. I'd post a picture but I've since used it as a test piece for paint.

Yeah I ended up drilling a hole and putting in a paper clip for my pin

gijo91 (author)2008-09-20

my neighbor has one like this, but it sucks!!! it only shoots 150fps

evilgenius 398 (author)2008-08-07

you should put a more powerful spring in it i have that same gun

willstab (author)evilgenius 3982008-08-26

i like this gun its the only $30 gun that has 300 fps but your lucky if it lasts you a month if you upgrade the gear box and add a metal barrel then you could put in a better spring

evilgenius 398 (author)willstab2008-08-29

i have the hop up version

nibbler125 (author)2008-08-16

its also a good idea to make sure its not cocked orelse parts will go flyin

Yeah, but with my gun the piece that holds the gun cocked had snapped off so it couldn't be cocked

juneapaluna (author)2008-08-12

Lol I have 2 of theese that broke, I will be fixing them soon.
