Do you want to adopt a Iguana? Well, you came to the right place I will help you through!
Step 1: Picking The Iguana
Choosing the right iguana can be a lot of fun on the other hand it can be nerveracking! Find a iguana that is bright green in color and one that is active. If you have kids it might be a good choice to have a active iguana to makes things a little more interesting. If not choose one that is quite mellow, when I got mine he quickly calmed down. The best ones to get are at a young age from your local pets store!
Step 2: The Cage/tank
The tank or cage you choose is very important because of the size that the iguana is going to grow (6 ft at most, but 3/4 is tail) when I got my iguana I chose a 10 gallon tank which will only last me a couple months before he grows out of it to a 30 gallon then onto a 60 until he stops growing. He/she will reach adulthood at 3 years of age.
Step 3: Food & Bathing
Bathing should be a regular thing each week. You can bath them in either a sink or a tub or even a shower once they are fully tamed and grown. Feeding has to be a routine just like humans have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Well, a iguana needs breakfast and dinner. So feed him/her when you eat breakfast and when you eat dinner otherwise leave the food in the cage for 24 hours.
Step 4: Taming
Taming your iguana is very easy and needed. In order to tame your iguana simply spend time with it (1-2 hours) until it is comfortable with you. Try hand feeding them too. Don't let then roam around until they have calmed down and are semi tame! That's all folks!
