How To: Jailbreak your Ipod Touch 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 (Windows)

Step 2 Jailbreak 1.1.1

First we've to jailbreak 1.1.1. Just browse on the browser of your Ipod to http://jailbreakme.com and click on 'install AppSnapp'. This will jailbreak your Ipod and install the installer we need. Just wait until the Ipod automatically reboots.

i know how 2 get around it. first u need 2 plug in ur ipod 2 ur computer. then bring up itunes if u have it(if not go to apple.com and download 4 free) and on the side where the toolbars r (the left side where it says music movies video ect.) i pic of ur ipod shuld pop up and should say ipod. Then click on the ipod and wait a moment. when it loads u shuld see a buton close 2 the middle of the screen that says restore. click restore, and wait for it. (this may take awhile) afterwards ur ipod shuld be back 2 normal like u just bought it. This will delete everything on the pod, but u will be able 2 get onto it and there will be no password.

Enter DFU mode: Plug iPod in, hold sleep & home until you get the disconnect sound, let go of sleep until it reconnects. Restore in iTunes.

You can only jailbreak your iPod from firmware 1.1.1. If you have 1.1.2, you can still downgrade it to 1.1.1.

1. Download the iPod touch 1.1.1 ipsw firmwareiPod touch 1.1.1 ipsw firmware file from Apple. Do this in Firefox .

2. Connect your iPod touch to your PC or Mac.

3. Put your iPod touch into restore mode by holding down the power and home keys. Release the power button after the screen goes blank but hold the Home key until iTunes recognises your iPod in restore mode. Now press and hold the Shift key on Windows or the Option key on Mac (In iTunes), then click Restore in iTunes. It will open up the File dialog. Now you can select the 1.1.1 firmware file you downloaded earlier.

4. When iTunes asks if you want to A) Set the iPod up as a new iPod. or B) Restore from a Backup. : Choose A.

when I download the software off of firefox i go to restore it (shift click) i go to the file, it loads up and it says that the ipod could not be restored an unknown error has occurred. What do I do?

I don't know, I tried to restore to version 1.0.2 (factory version) by going to installer and downgrading it but it always says unknown error and then it kicks me out of the installer; I don't know what to do , maybe u could try google searching or posting a forum about it here. Sorry I haven't been online for a long time and i just read your post now.

step 9Install iPhone applications
Download: iPhoneApps
Unzip the archive somewhere and go back to WinSCP.
Navigate in the left column of WinSCP to the map where you unzipped the archive and you are ready to install the appications. To put a map on your iPod, simply drag and drop the map from the left column to the right.
Now I will tell you where top put which map:
Weather.app, MobileMail.app, Stock.app, Maps.app, MobileNotes to "/Applications/"
GMM.framework to "/System/Library/Frameworks/"
MobileMailSettings.bundle to "/System/Library/PreferenceBundles/"

When you are done, change the permission of the maps to 755.
(right-click, properties, permission:)

k im trying to install appsnap onto my ipod touch but this white screen comes up with a quistion mark in the corner. ive allrighty unblocked the pop up blocker. what do i do?

You need to download the 1.1.1 firmware, make sure you've backed up your ipod, then go to itunes and [shift] right-click restore. Then select the file you downloaded(1.1.1) and let it restore. Then , put your backup back onto your ipod, THEN you may go to jailbreakme.com on mobile safari to jailbreak your touch, hope this helped

When a quastionmark pop-up, it means you have firmware 1.1.2. To jailbreak you need firmware 1.1.1.

Everytime I press Install AppSnapp, my ipod does not load the link that gives you the inststaller. Is there any other way to get the installer??
