How To Make A Cheap Set Of Speakers For An MP3 Player Or iPod

 by Kill17777

Step 1: Things Needed

These are the things you will need:

1. Old earbuds or really cheap ones from wal-mart
2. Empty gum box. Just take out the gum and the weird studd that keeps the gum in,
3. Tape
4. MP3 player

After making sure they work(well), why not put a dock on it for an MP3 player. Also, it looks more profesional if you just put the thing you're making in the pictures (not yourself)

Guys how bout u just shut up and let the kid live. if u dont like it, just go look at something else!
Drinkliquidmetal says: May 10, 2010. 4:15 PM
that didn't work, try something that can amplify more sound and actually has a way for air to escape.
knex_mepalm says: Apr 25, 2010. 9:46 PM

Guys, you really need to take it easy. This young guy could be the next major music innovator, we all need a starting point.

Well, the idea was a solid base - acoustic amplification. However, the materials could be better. Instead of a gum box, try something like an altoids can. Something a bit more steady.

Also, google how a banjo resonator works. Apply that to this invention here and bam, you have acoustic amplification.

1 more thing.... it should be a win/fail button on every comment... woulda been much better lol
ThaNorwegianDude says: Jan 22, 2010. 8:44 AM
ok i understand that u had this idea and everything, BUT for gods sake, all u did was to put some earbuds in an empty gum box. ever1 could come up with that, also the sound wouldnt be very loud if u use earbuds try to use an old speaker from a radio or something and secure it properly in a box it would be much better thank you
foxtrot4697 in reply to ThaNorwegianDudeFeb 8, 2010. 5:38 PM
obviously you couldn't come up with an idea like this, you didnt post the ible

u dint even make anything all u did was put earphones in a box
axel nader in reply to AlisterBroDec 29, 2009. 4:46 PM
Seriously. I look for ways to make speakers so I don't have to blow my headphones by playing them too loud, and you give me a way to blow some earbuds without playing them half as loud as my head phones. You don't even have any way of securing the earbuds, so they could rattle around in the gum box with no way of protecting them from touching and short circuiting my mp3 player. Why do you even have to take the plastic off the earbuds in the first place? All this will do is muffle the sound. I should stop here, pointing out all of the flaws would take a long time.

mrdepo96 says: Oct 25, 2009. 7:33 PM
next time you make an instuctible, DO NOT ever put your face in the pictures. it just makes people take your idea a lot less seriously,(as you can see from all the comments). This is a good start, so next time make something that will work a little better.

just gotta say something, hes a kid, kids arent the best people for ideas, heck, most videos kids make on youtube are really not funny, good, and are overall, well, stupid, just saying
codongolev says: Jul 27, 2009. 1:08 PM
if you really want good speakers for your ipod, just get an old pair of computer speakers, crack em' open, and put them in another enclosure. if you want them to be battery powered, then find the adaptor component (it should be the first thing the electricity goes into when it comes out of the plug) and find out the output voltage. I did, and I found out it was 9 volts, so I just used a 9 volt battery. but if it was something like 4.5 volts, you could use 3 AAs. just find a battery setup that works. I did, and now I have a nice pair of speakers. they still look like a cookie tin, though. I should paint it or something.

"pop holes in the gum box with a needle so sound can get out" rigghtt , im gona stick with the be nice policy and just say that there are a lot of things wrong with that. no fences but this isnt a great setup , maybe add a small amp and some speakers , itl give your speakers more oomph :)
