Introduction: How to Make Chicken Stir Fry

This is the recipe for chicken stir fry. It is both delicious and easy to make and an important recipe to add to cook's arsenal. It typically serves about three people and can be completed within 20 minutes, even with minimal cooking skills. The preparation part of this recipe will be divided into three parts, the noodles, the sauce, and the chicken and vegetables parts. It is recommended that you follow the steps in order. However, it is not necessary.

Ingredients (shown in second image):

Noodles

  • Knorr Teriyaki noodles
  • 1.5 cups of water
  • 1 tbsp of cooking oil

Sauce

  • 1 tsp of corn starch
  • 1 tbsp of vinegar
  • 2 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp of water

Chicken and vegetables

  • 1-1.25 pounds of chicken
    • NOTE: It is recommended you dice the chicken into fairly small pieces.
  • 1 bag of frozen stir fry vegetables
    • NOTE: Most stores will sell bags labelled as such in their frozen food sections.
  • 1 tbsp of cooking oil
  • 1 tsp of minced garlic
  • Crisco spray

Utensils (shown in third image):

  • 1 stove with 2 burners
  • 1 large 12" cooking pan
  • 1 medium sauce pan
  • 1 Pyrex glass
  • 2 Stirring spoons or spatulas
  • 1 tbsp spoon
  • 1 tsp spoon

Step 1: Preparing the Noodles

Prepare the noodles to the specifications on the package of noodles.

These are the instructions for one bag of Knorr brand noodles (shown in first image):

  1. Pour 1.5 cups of water into the sauce pan.
  2. Pour 1 tbsp of cooking oil into the water.
  3. Bring the water-oil mixture to a boil.
  4. Pour noodles into the water.
    • IMAGE: It should look like lower left image.
  5. Turn down heat on the mixture.
  6. Let simmer until noodles are no longer hard
    • NOTE: This usually takes 7 minutes per Knorr's advice.
  7. Let the noodles cool.
    • WARNING: Noodles will be very hot after being cooked.
    • IMAGE: It should look like the lower right image.

Step 2: Preparing the Sauce

  1. Pour the corn starch into the Pyrex glass.
  2. Pour the vinegar into the Pyrex glass.
  3. Pour the soy sauce into the Pyrex glass.
  4. Pour the water into the Pyrex glass.
  • NOTE: It is highly recommended that you continually stir the sauce as the corn starch will settle and harden on the bottom of the glass.
  • IMAGE: It should look like the image above.

Step 3: Preparing the Chicken

  1. Spray the pan with a thin layer of Crisco.
  2. Pour the cooking oil into the 12" pan.
  3. Pour the minced garlic into the pan
    • IMAGE: It should look like the first image.
  4. Pour the vegetables into the pan.
  5. Stir the vegetables in the oil and garlic for 1 minute
    • IMAGE: It should look like the second image.
  6. Pour in the diced chicken.
    • IMAGE: It should look like the lower left image.
  7. Stir the chicken until it is cooked thoroughly
    • WARNING: Under-cooked meat, especially chicken, can be dangerous to consume. Cook the chicken until it is no longer pink on the inside.
    • IMAGE: It should look like the lower right image.
  8. Turn down the heat on the pan's burner.

Step 4: Putting It All Together

Once you have completed the previous steps:

  1. Pour the sauce into the pan with the chicken and vegetables.
  2. Stir until the sauce is no longer runny.
    • NOTE: This usually takes 1 or 2 minutes.
  3. Let the mixture cool until it is safe to eat.
    • WARNING: The mixture will be very hot once it has been cooked.
