A step-by-step tutorial of how to make your own dreamcatcher earrings using next to nothing!

Step 1: Materials Needed

For this project, you're going to need the following things:

A key chain ring (or a shower curtain ring, whatever you have around the house)
Needle and thread
Yarn
Scissors
Pliers/wire cutters
Earring thingies (You know, those little hook things)

Not seen in this picture:
Feathers (optional, of course)
Super glue (believe me, you will want this!)
Beads (also optional)

Step 2: Wrapping the Ring

First, what you're going to want to do is wrap your yarn tightly around your ring. Make sure it is tight!! To start, I wrapped the yarn around itself so it wouldn't slip. Then I finished it off by using a needle to pull the excess yarn through one of the loops I had already created to secure it in place. Snip off the excess yarn.

Step 3: Weaving the Dream Catcher

When you finish weaving, however, tie the thread in a secure double knot in the center, rather than letting it hang down.

I found that it is easier to create the dream catcher using needle.

After tying the knot in the middle, snip off the excess thread.

Step 4: Adding Feathers (optional)

Now, you don't actually have to do this step. If you prefer the look of a dream catcher without the feathers, then just skip to the next step. If you do want feathers though, read on.

I started out by cutting lengths of thread that were twice as long as I wanted them to hang. This was so I had extra for tying knots and such. Then I took a bead (the hole has to be wide enough for your feather to fit inside) and slid the thread through it, leaving about an inch on one side and 5 on the other. Next, I covered the stalk of the feather with super glue, making sure I had something underneath so I wouldn't ruin the table. Before the glue got tacky (you have about 5 seconds), I inserted the feather through the bead on the side with the shorter end of string. Make sure you don't slide the string out! I then used the superglue on either side of the bead, just to be safe. After the glue tried, I cut off the extra inch of thread on the feather end.

Now in order to attach your feather to the ring, thread your string through a needle. Then, slide your needle under the yarn on the ring and pull the thread through until the feather dangles at your desired length. Tie a double knot and cut the excess string.

Repeat this whole process as many times as you choose.

Step 5: Attaching the Earring Wire

Attaching the earring wires is simple. All you have to do is take your needle and about 6 inches of thread, and pull them through the yarn on the opposite end of your feathers. Then, slide the earring wire onto the string, and tie a double knot. Then dab on some super glue just to make sure the knot holds.

Step 6: Final Touches

The last step is basically to glue any knots that you made. This includes the knot in the center of the dream catcher and the knots you made to attach the feathers to the ring.
