Step 8 Add Leaves

I add two or three leaves to the bottom of the rose.  The leaves are cut out and the edges are serrated by making cuts along the edges of the leaf.

They look very Nice, but my question is, in step 6, 7 and 8, you show what looks to be Stems.  What were they made from? Or was this in a previous Instructable?
