so after you add the potatoes lower it so that the flame is big enough to cook it but low enough not to burn it.
cover it with a top or another pan or something
leave it for a while about 15 minutes ( or until the potatoes are almost completely soft)
then add the cheese
leave it for about 5 more minutes and turn off the stove


add the potatoes first because they take longer to cook and the cheese goes in right when the soup is almost done because it cooks fast
