Fast, long range and small, the AeroVengeance
is an improved variant of the StratoVengeance
dart paper airplane, featuring modified canards. These modifications endow the AeroVengeance with better handling and performance.Due to their extensive commonality, Vengeances and StratoVengeances can be converted into AeroVengeances. For those making such conversions, proceed to here.
The AeroVengeance was designed in response to the popular reception of the prior Vengeance variants and the development of the new canard configuration, which enabled the new variant better performance. Because of its great commonality with previous variants, the prototype for the AeroVengeance was made and entered testing quickly. Performance was found to have been improved over its older predecessors, so it was approved for publication and allotted an instructable slot.
TAA USAF Designation: A190-3
Step 1: Materials
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
Step 2: Length and Corner Folding; Cutting the Trailing Edge
Take your paper and fold it along its length. Then pull the corners on one end and fold them into the center. Then unfold the pair and cut them away along the crease. You may then discard these pieces. Proceed to the other side and make corner folds here.
Step 3: Nose Folding
Pull the creases of the corner folds inward toward the center crease as shown. Once this is completed, pull the training edges of the corner folds inward toward the center fold. After this has been done, pull the tip of the nose down over these folds. Pull the blunt tip of the nose back to the sharp trailing edge and crease. Measure one inch back from this crease, and fold the nose forward again. Then fold along the center line again.
Step 4: Canard, Wing, Tail and Winglet Folding
Fold down the canards as shown. Measure 0.875 inches above the center fold at the trailing edge and make a mark. From this mark, fold the wings down parallel with the center fold of the aircraft. Unfold the wings after making the creases, then fold the tail up as shown. Once you have made the fold, unfold the aircraft and then pull the tail through the fuselage. Measure 0.625 inches in from the wingtip along the trailing edge of the airfoils, then fold the winglets parallel to the fuselage after folding the leading edges inward and under the nose fold as shown.
Once this is done, flatten the entire airframe out and unfold the triangular fold of the nose. Fold the center edges of the canards toward their edges, then after making crease, tuck them beneath the folds as shown. After this is completed, restore the triangular fold and slide the canard flaps into the triangular nose fold as shown.
Step 5: Taping
Apply tape to the nose and other parts of the aircraft where designated. Once taping is complete, add sufficient anhedral to the wings for the winglets to touch the ground. This will complete the aircraft.
Step 6: Flight
Like the StratoVengeance, the AeroVengeance is quite fast, and because of its small wings, has very high wing loading. Launches should be done at moderately high speed at a neutral or positive attitude. Additional applicable surfaces include flaps, elevators, ailerons, air brakes, and a trimmable rudder. Enjoy!
