Introduction: How to Make the Super Skyhawk Paper Airplane

About: Paper airplane maker: 400+ designs so far and more in development!

A fast, flying wing stunt plane, the Super Skyhawk is of a rare breed. Developed from the well known Skyhawk, this airplane is a reliable little airplane that will impress everytime.

TAA USAF Designation: UF57-1

Step 1: Materials

Required:
1 Piece of 8.5 by 11 inch Paper
Ruler
Pencil
Optional:
Tape (add-ons, modifications)

Step 2: Cover Fold Preparation

Fold one corner of your paper to the edge of the opposite side. Then open and repeat on the other side. Then pull the top half of the X onto the bottom half.

Step 3: Cover Folding

Tuck the paper in under itself. The pictures represents what the paper should appear like.

Step 4: Counterweight Folding

Pull the edges of the cover folds up to the front as pictured. Then fold the diagonal edge to the center line and repeat on the opposite side.

Step 5: Wing Fold Preparation

Lay your incomplete airplane down flat as shown. Then get your ruler and measure 3/4 of an inch away from the counterweight fold (along the swept leading edge). Make a mark here. Then use your ruler and measure 2 and 1/8 inches away from the center fold at the rear of the airplane. Make a mark here.

Step 6: Wing Folding

Fold your Super Skyhawk in half with the counterweight on the inside of the fold (the "clean" side should be facing outwards). Proceed to make a fold that reaches in a straight line between the two marks you made previously. Once this is done, your paper should look as it does in the third photo. Now that this is done, measure half an inch from the back of the airfoil on the section you just folded. Fold your 'secondary' wings down on both sides (the tips of the swept leading edges being guided) to these points. Once done, your Super Skyhawk should appear as it does in the seventh picture, and is now finished.

Step 7: Flight

Being a less aerodynamic version of the original Skyhawk, the Super Skyhawk requires a faster throw than its predecessor. Due to its different shape though, it is capable of faster flight and stunt work. Unlike the original Skyhawk, the Super Skyhawk can be launched at up to a 30 degree angle! Enjoy!
