Step 8: Positioning the 4 remaining middle pieces

Okay, so now all of the corners are in the right place and orientation.

You should have one side that has the right middle piece, but it doesn't have to be in the right orientation.

-If you do, then look at the cube from that side (the one with the correct middle piece between the two corners) and preform one of the two algorithms (don't look at the first picture, that's just for fun, look at the second picture)

You'll either need to shift the middle pieces one way or the other. Based on which way you need to go, right or left, do the appropriate algorithm on the 2nd picture.

-If you have more than one or none in the proper orientation, use the "scramble" algorithm on the 3rd picture, looking at any side when you do (so long as you don't rotate the cube up or down), then start this step over again

I'm stuck. Anybody know if there's a way to solve this without breaking it apart?

in the first picture, the arrows show you which algorithm you have to use. however, they are paired incorrectly.

Now i have one side with just one green piece. Which algo do I apply now ? Plz reply...thanx

Hm.... one side with just one green piece? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. Could you draw me a picture?

this is the situation . Rest all is in order..How to proceed now ?

The only solution is that you have to pop that peice out and switch it. Someone has tampered with your cube. The mechanics of a normal rubics cube only allow peices to be flipped in pairs.

dude there is no solution someone must have taken the cube apart and switched that block thing

Ah - I'm almost certain there's no way to solve that. Have you taken apart your cube at any time?
chinchang in reply to T3h_MuffinatorFeb 11, 2009. 7:17 AM
no...never. Before arriving at this situation I had solved the top & middle layer. then according to yr tutorial I should hv arrived at a pattern....but i didn't :( Suppose i used different algos to solve the top and middle layers, then wont yr steps work in dat case ?

So... if everything else is solved perfectly, there is absolutely no way to reverse that. The only way to solve it is to flip that piece by removing it from the cube, reversing it's orientation, and putting it back into the cube.

all you have to do is redo the algorithm for that part. and my record with the method is 49 seconds.

i cant solve the top layer ..im already done resolving the first to layers ..what will i do
razmitaz says: Apr 16, 2008. 4:50 AM
I have the situation in the right where i need to move some of the blocks right but for some reason the algorithm isn't working I am doing it exactly as is written but i always end up with ont piece in the correct place but the others still need moving??

When I click the pictures below the big picture the page just reloads but the picture does not open. Why is this?

I made a mistake in my first comment (in the second sentence). Correction: If the 2nd picture is the SCRAMBLE algorithm then what is the first picture?
ardua says: Mar 24, 2008. 2:43 PM
I got step 7,but i don't get this one. If the 2nd picture is the algorithm, then what is the first picture. I succeded in getting the fish pattern, but every time I did this, the side of my edge pieces were incorrect. What do I do?
tbeacleay says: Jan 23, 2008. 4:49 PM
i can't find '"scramble" algorithm on the 3rd picture' which step has that algorithm listed?
T3h_Muffinator (author) in reply to tbeacleayJan 26, 2008. 4:02 PM
sorry - it's the 2nd picture
