The polymer that the frame, trigger and magazine exterior are made of a nylon based polymer, not ABS Plastic.
Polymer guns aren't bad by default - take a look at the Springfield XD(m)
The entire slide and a majority of the mechanical parts are all metal.
On quality the Glock was designed to military specifications (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glock_pistol#Development) and has since been adopted by military and police forces around the world, including the US Marshals and becoming the most popular firearm by US Police forces. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glock_pistol#Users) This means that people around the world, who's lives depend on the quality, accuracy, and reliability of their weapons rely on Glock. That is not the mark of "trash"
There are things to dislike about the glock, the width and heavy trigger pull for example, but to call it "plastic" and "trash" sounds like you don't have much experience with it. I have qualified as a NRA/Winchester Distinguished Expert with the pistol, am certified as an NRA Pistol Instructor, a frequent shooter a Munitions Systems US Air Force vet , so I spend quite a bit of time both professionally and as a hobby behind a gun, I do not always carry, but when I do it is a Glock.
