How to Apply for Chinese Visa in Hong Kong

Step 1: Getting to Hong Kong

First you need to get to Hong Kong. If you are outside China, this is easy. Book a flight on one of the many airlines that fly to Hong Kong. If you are in China, the cheap option is to catch a train to Shenzhen and cross into Hong Kong on foot at the Luohu border crossing. The expensive option is fly to Shenzhen and more expensive yet is to fly directly to Hong Kong.

Step 2: How to Apply for the Visa

Once in Hong Kong, you have choices for applying for your Chinese visa. Apply at the China Visa Office or apply at a good visa agency.

Step 3: After Collecting Your Visa

After collecting your shiny new visa you can either head straight for China or hang out and enjoy Hong Kong.

If you are going to China, skip Shenzhen and Guangzhou, not much there. Intead follow the coast to Shantou and keep going OR head west to Yangshuo then Yunnan.

If you are going to enjoy Hong Kong, take a ride on the Star Ferry, hike Victoria Peak, visit Repulse Bay, stroll down Nathan Road and browse at the Temple Street night market.
