First of all, you need to be at least 18 years old in order to be able to fill out the application form (in most states). However, there are states where the minimum age is 19 or 21. These states are (and their age requirement): Alabama (19), Alaska (19), Illinois (21) and Nebraska (19).

Step 2: Fill the Application and Take Courses

Next, you need to fill out the application form for your particular state. These forms can usually be found on the Real Estate Commission official websites.

Make sure that you have completed specific pre-licensing courses, because most states require you to do so. These usually amount to 40-50 hour courses held in a facility which is accredited by the state. These courses are not free, and you need to complete them before your license can be issued. Again, this is not the case in all the states, as there are a few states that require credit hours in a college that offers real estate courses.
