This video walks you through all the necessary maintenance steps for a bObsweep Standard or Pethair vacuum. This guide will teach you how to remove and clean Bob's dustbin, main brush, side brush, and filters.

All of these parts are attached to bObsweep standard and pethair in the same way. The following maintenance techniques are displayed on a pethair model, but are equally applicable on a standard Bob.

Step 1: Main Brush Maintenance

The brush is held in by one screw. Use a phillips head screwdriver to remove the brush.

Lift up and pull the end piece off the brush before cleaning.

Step 2: Clean the Main Brush Thoroughly

Use the cleaning tool or paper towel to remove dirt and hair from both ends of the brush, as well as the places inside bObsweep where the brush ends attach.

You may use scissors to cut away hairs wrapped around the brush.

bObsweep standard and pethair may use two different types of brushes. The blue one is better for thick carpets, while the black brush works best on hardwood floor or tiles.

Note: Although the brushes have slightly different bristles, they both attach to bObsweep in the same way. The installation steps in this guide (shown using a blue main brush) are still applicable for a black brush.

Step 3: Replace the Main Brush

Insert the square peg end of the brush into bOb and properly align it with the square indentation inside the brush compartment. You may need to turn the brush slightly until you feel it fall into place.

Then replace the holder (where the screw will soon be placed) on the pin end of the main brush.

Step 4: Secure the Brush to Bob

Lower the brush into bOb and install the screw you previously removed.

Note: If you lose any of your screws, a replacement comes in every bObsweep box. Make sure to use the correct one for the main brush. It is a slightly longer, light silver screw. The darker grey screw is made for the side brush.

Step 5: Side Brush Maintenance

The side brush is also held in with one screw. It is slightly smaller than the main brush screw and a darker grey colour.

Uninstall it with a Phillips head screwdriver, and clean thoroughly whenever you notice large amounts of dirt and dust collected.

Step 6: Clean the Side Brush and Re-Install

When finished, lay the brush back down and ensure it sits flat against bOb. Like the main brush, you may have to turn the side brush slightly to align.

Install the screw you removed previously.

Step 7: Dustbin Maintenance

These dustbin maintenance steps include: removal, cleaning, and replacing the bin and it's filters correctly.

Press the small silver button on bOb’s back, and the dustbin will pop out.

Pull down the transparent gate on the bin and pour all debris into the garbage.

Step 8: Open the Filter Compartments

It is recommended to replace the old filters on bObsweep with unused filters every 4 to 6 months. That time frame depends on the frequency and intensity of bOb's work.

But there is more you can do to maximize the efficiency of used filters before replacement is required.

When cleaning the dustbin, it helps to remove and clean all the filters whenever you notice excessive dust accumulation.

There is one small filter on Bob's back, below the dustbin’s silver button. Grip it and pull down to remove.

Step 9: Remove All the Filters

There are two more filters (one HEPA, one electrostatic) inside the bin. Grab one of the three buttons on the top of Bob's bin and pull straight out to remove. (Highlighted Yellow)

Step 10: Separate the Filters and Clean

The cleaning tool can now be used to brush away leftover dust in the bin. But it can also be used to clean the HEPA and electrostatic filters.

Separate the filters from their holders and brush the dust off every part - the soft filters and hard filter holders.

The small filter from the back of the dustbin can be rinsed with water, but the HEPA and electrostatic filters should not come in contact with water.

Step 11: Replace Each Filter in Order

Place the Electrostatic filter inside the frame first, then the HEPA filter on top. Then slide the whole piece back in its spot on the dustbin, so it locks in place.

Lay the smallest filter down on its holder. The protruding pieces of the holder should fit through the holes on the filter.

Note: If you need help differentiating the filters, look at the thickness and texture of each. The electrostatic filter is thinner and softer to touch than the HEPA filter.
