Warning:

There are sharp objects including wire cutters, pliers, and scissors being used as well as a hot glue gun that you should use with caution during the process of making the dream catcher.

Step 1: Step 1

Cut the wire coat hanger to get 8 inches of wire. Cut the wire where the red dotted lines indicate in the picture below and keep the highlighted portion of the wire. Children under the age of 13 should use parental supervision when working with wire cutters. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 2: Step 2

Form previously cut length of wire into diamond shape, bending it with your hands or pliers. Bend the wire inward where the red dots indicate, to form the desired shape in Figure 3. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 3: Step 3

Use hot glue gun to glue together loose ends of wire, making sure the glue doesn’t form a big clump of dried glue at the ends. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 4: Step 4

Choose a strip of fabric to cover the wire with. Glue one end of the fabric to the wire with the hot glue gun in order to hold the fabric in place. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 5: Step 5

Wrap the fabric around the whole diamond, making sure to keep the fabric pulled tight and making sure that no wire is showing. Glue the free end of the fabric to the wire when the wire is completely covered. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 6: Step 6

Unravel the twine so that there is enough slack to work with. Glue free end of twine to the diamond, preferably near the top or bottom point of the diamond. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 7: Step 7

Once the glue is dry, begin winding twine in a zigzag pattern back and forth around the diamond until the twine has reached the opposite end of the diamond from where it started.

Step 8: Step 8

Once at the end, cut the twine loose from the rest of the spool and glue free end to diamond. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 9: Step 9

Next, cut three lengths of twine, use ruler to measure about 3 inches each, and use the glue gun to glue the metallic leaves to the three length of twine. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 10: Step 10

Use the glue gun to glue the three lengths of twine to the bottom corner of the diamond, letting the loose end of the length of twine hang free. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 11: Step 11

Glue down any loose pieces of twine or fabric to the dream catcher. (Refer to the warning above)

Step 12: Step 12

If desired, use the glue gun to glue a length of twine to the top of the diamond, opposite of the metallic leaves, so the dream catcher may be hung from the ceiling. (Refer to the warning above)
