How to De Stankify Your Diaper Pail

Once your baby starts eating solids, the smell from the diaper pail can start melting the paint off your walls, even if you use a diaper genie or similar contraption. With this parenting hack, you can significantly reduce the stink of your diaper pail, using materials that you probably already have laying around.

Step 1 Assemble materials.

First, assemble your materials: one lingerie laundry bag and one can of strong smelling coffee. I have chosen this Trader Joes Volcano because 1) Trader Joes is cheap; and 2) Volcano suggests its particular strength might be just the thing to finally kill off poop stank.

very clever!! I wish I'd known about this um... 13 years ago. I bet it would also work with trashcans at home, too. We did our best by keeping industrial size boxes of baking soda in the nursery and tossing in a scoop everytime we felt it necessary, but coffee beans would've been more fun.

Does it replace the poop odor with coffee scent in the room or does the coffee dilute the poop scent without having the room smell like coffee?

The room does smell like coffee, but it also absorbs the scent of the poop, it doesn't just cover it up. So, no, you cannot do it without having the room smell like coffee, but it won't smell like coffee AND poop, if that's what you're worried about.
