Step 1: Seeds

To plant a garlic you only need a garlic clove, of a head that are preferably of a large head to have large garlic.

Para plantar un ajo solo se necesitan los dientes de una cabeza de ajo, de preferencia que sean de una cabeza grande para tener ajos grandes.

Step 2: Soil

Garlic is not demanding in terms of soil, so it can be grown on any type of soil.

Step 3: Planting the Seed

The way to grow garlic is by placing the seed with the flat part down, the distance between the seeds depends on the size of the garlic used, approximately every 7 cm.

La forma de cultivar ajos es colocando la semilla con la parte plana hacia abajo, la distancia entre semillas dependerá del tamaño de la cabeza de ajo utilizada, aproximadamente cada 7 cm.

Step 4: Care of the Garlic

  • Watering at least once a week, if the soil is wet don't irrigate it.
  • When the stems reach 10 or 15 cm high, a knot is made with the leaves so that the plant concentrates in enlarging the head of the garlic.

  • Riegos al menos una vez por semana, si la tierra está húmeda no se debe regar.
  • Cuando los tallos alcancen unos 10 o 15 cm de alto se procede a hacer un nudo con las hojas para que la planta se concentre en agrandar la cabeza del ajo.

Step 5: Harvest

  • It is harvested when all or most of its leaves are dried.
  • They are stored in a place where there is no moisture to dry properly so they do not rot away.

  • Se cosecha cuando todas o la mayoría de sus hojas se sequen.
  • Se colocan en un lugar donde no haya humedad para que se seque correctamente y no se nos pudra el ajo al almacenarlo.

how long does it take to grow 15cm?

Sorry for the delay, the time that takes to grow 15 cm in my case it takes almost 2 to 3 months, but this can change in base to the weather in your orchard, in my orchard i have tropical weather (Guatemala City).
