Introduction: How to Install a Sump Pump

I have a dirt-floored root cellar under my old farmhouse kitchen, that sometimes fills up with water. I just installed a hardwood floor, in the kitchen and I don't want the humidity to warp the boards. I installed a sump pump to keep the cellar dry.

Steps:

1 - Dig a hole

2 - Drill holes in a plastic sump pit bucket, and wrap with landscaping fabric.

3 - Put sump bucket in hole and sump pump in bucket.

4 - Connect pipe from sump pump to outside the cellar.

5 - Add a float switch to turn on the pump when their is water in the bucket.

6 - Plug the switch into an outlet or extension cord and plug the sump into the switch.
