How to JTAG your Xbox 360 and run homebrew

Step 4Dumping the nand

Dumping the nand
Download the files here (I forgot to include nandpro get that here)
Extract the rar, and open up the nandpro folder
install port95nt.exe (if running vista or 7 set it for compatibility mode for xp.)
Plug your Xbox 360 in, but don't power it on.
Plug the lpt cable in
Pop open cmd and change directories to your nandpro folder
type nandpro lpt: -r16 nand.bin
It will start to dump, this will take 35 minutes
Type nandpro lpt: -r16 nand2.bin and dump it a second time.

If during the dump it has trouble reading blocks, don't worry.  You only have a problem if can't read block after block, which means something went wrong in the middle of the dump and you have to restart it again.

If you are having issues having nandpro detecting it, go over and double check all of your soldering. If you skipped out on the diode, try adding one, and just restarting your computer has fixed the issue quite a few times for me. You also want to make sure your cable is short as possible.

This goes out to all having trouble dumping nand through lpt
1. make shure 360 is plugged in both wall and motherboard
2.make shure plugged up to lpt good and snug

no results then go into to system bios and check if lpt is
1. enabled
2. set to EPP+ECP mode or into normal if in EPP+ECP

still no results
1.check soldering
2.check soldering
3.check soldering

nothing again?
1.check direction of diodes
2.add/remove the 100 ohm resisters on pins 1,2,14,16,17

nothing again bad lpt port/xbox

how do i Pop open cmd and change directories to your nandpro folder?? help
May 17, 2011. 1:26 AMelizle says:
Use the cd command. As in "cd Nandpro20e" use "dir" to see what is in your directory. Say the nandpro folder was on your desktop, you would type "cd desktop" hit enter and then type "cd Nandpro20e" or whatever you named your nandpro folder. cd means Change Directory. Another thing you could do is just open up notepad and make containing "nandpro lpt: -r16 nand.bin" and save that as nand1.bat making sure you hit show all files before you save. To see a list of commands in command prompt you can type "help" and it will list some basic ones for you. I hoped this helped.

i even tried adding a diode to DB25.11 to J1D2.4, tried it both ways to get the polarity.

J281 actually
Dec 11, 2010. 12:10 PMboolean says:
Thank you for the reply but I am still having trouble. I've narrowed down the problem maybe, because i noticed if I unplug J2D1.5(I think that's the part where you just use 5 and 6) the xbox will be able to start up while plugged into the computer.

error. I unsoldered everything, used a thicker guage wire (instead of the gamecube controller wire I was using), and got rid of the diode. I resoldered and triple checked everything, and it is now dumping.

I also used this wiring diagram: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=693742
(the new xenon one).
