How to Jailbreak 3.0 firmware on iPhone/iPod Touch on Windows/Mac

How to easily jailbreak the new firmware on the iphone/ipod touch

Step 1 Getting Started

First off, do this at your own risk (I have jailbroken my ipod at least 10 times and it is pretty safe) and i am not responsible for any bricked or broken iphones or ipod touches.

This works on:
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Mac (Intel models only!!)

And this only works on

iPhone
iPhone 3G
iPod Touch
iPod Touch 2G

NO iPhone 3GS IN THIS INSTRUCTABLE , but there are tutorials on youtube and places like that.

Let's get Started!!

you have to have 3.0 software already on your iphone/ipod touch

and you have to have itunes 8.2

this can get you a free firmware for all those ipod touch users as well!!!

You're going to first have to download redsn0w

Mac - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ABS3VL1R
Windows - http://megaupload.com/?d=F40WGM44

Then you have to get these firmwares, if you have already got them from the leaked 3.0 like i do, thats fine,
it'll look something like this from the leaked version, mines and ipod 2G (iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore)

Here are the firmwares that you need to download (preferably to desktop or some place easy to access)

If you have the iphone 1st generation, you need to download both of the boot loaders here as well - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2YETX8RN

And for all the firmwares, just go to this link and look for your appropriate firmware for your device.

The next step deals with going through redsn0w's simple interface.

when i run redsnow it tells me that it was unable to recognize the IPSW?? is there something wrong tht i did?????

I put itouch in dfu mode and redsnow began jailbreak. Got a message from window saying a problem with redsnow and it shutdown but itouch still has "downloading jailbreak data" on screen. please help

The only thing I'm having trouble with is entering DFU mode. If I hold the power button down any longer than ten seconds, it just shuts off. :|
