I've never been military, but I do cable system maintenance. I walk the poles and peds in peoples backyards and cannot be paid if all are not checked. I jump lots of fences in a day as you might imagine, while loaded with equipment. These instructions are right on. Shake the fence to determine its stability before the jump. Also, always go to the vertical post. Put both hands on top of high fences and pull when you jump to get your weight on your hands, then you can use the one leg, two leg overage method. Watch out for loose slats, as you will most likely push of slightly forward from the top of the fence to select your landing spot. If these come loose under you, you will lack forward motion and simply flatten in the air,(I happen to know this, ahem!). It's a long fall from there. Eventually you can get good enough to be over in spit seconds, or even get on a stout part of fence and dance across close fence tops to get into diagonal corners. I must stress this is a very dangerous maneuver. Nice to see this posted.
