Introduction: How to Keep Bugs Out of Office Plants

About: Garvey's Office Products is the largest family-owned office supply dealer in Illinois. We are the nice guys in office supplies!

Fun fact: Office pencils are made from cedar, and most bugs that are attracted to indoor plants have a natural aversion to it.

Step 1: Grab Your Supplies!

You will need the following supplies.
  • Your office plant
  • Pencil(s)
  • A pencil sharpener

Step 2: Sharpen Your Pencil.

Sharpen a pencil to collect its shreds.

Step 3: Add Your Pencil Shreds to Your Plant.

Add your pencil shreds to your office plant. Make sure that your shreds go in the potted soil. BONUS: Not only will your pencil shreds deter bugs, but they are also compostable! So, you are upcycling.
