Too much screen time may cause problems such as sleep deprivation, obesity, eyesight deterioration, loss of social skills. It’s a necessity for parents to limit screen time and block some apps on iOS device which may influence children’s study and health.
Step 1: Set Up Built-In Parental Controls on IPhone: Launch the Setting App
Tap on the Setting on the home screen of iPhone.
Step 2: Tap on General
Tap on General on the Setting interface.
Step 3: Tap on Restrictions
Tap on Restrictions from the General interface.
Step 4: Tap on Enable Restrictions
Tap on Enable Restrictions
Step 5: Type in a Password
Type in a password that is different from the Lock Screen Password so that children won’t be able to unlock it easily.
Step 6: Turn Off the Selected Apps
Under Allow Section, turn off the apps that you don’t want kids to access, such as Safari, Camera, FaceTime, Siri, AirDrop, CarPlay, iTunes Store, App Music Connect, iBooks Store, Podcasts, In-app purchases, Installing apps, Deleting apps.
Step 7: Other Method: Set Daily Time Limit With Third-Party Apps
The built-in parental control in iOS device has limitation because it's hard to set daily maximum usage time and schedule to block specific apps during specific period. But it is possible with some dedicated apps such as iKeyMonitor App Blocker. Search for ikeymonitor and install it from Cydia BigBoss source. Open it with safari by entering localhost:8888.
Step 8: Set Daily Maximum Time for All Apps
You can set daily maximum time allowed by tapping on “Daily Limit”.
Step 9: Schedule to Limit Screen Time on IPhone
Select blocked apps and time period to limit time on iPhone in homework time or bed time.
Step 10: Screen Time Limit Is Finished
When the time limit reaches, the selected apps will be automatically blocked.
