a) thats a rocket engine b) its an orgami box that you've adapted to be a rocket engine c) during the folding the camera needs to be MUCH closer to the paper

the problem with this is that i tried it before and since the lighter fluid is filled, and then the lighter is removed, all the gas will come out. Pretty obvious, and even a child knows that. Use common sense
Sep 30, 2008. 2:42 AMkillerjackalope says:
No it wont, you have a good few minutes because butane is more dense than air, by the way don't mix up fluid and gas (butane) it can get messy, my friend didn't understand and managed to light his hands on fire... No injuries but a lot of burnt stuff in his house..
Sep 22, 2008. 6:21 PMtanmaker says:
You must have done something wrong, or you waited too long to light it. It obviously works, so before you criticize someone else, make sure that you are correct.
Sep 24, 2008. 4:30 PMGuy.Fawkes says:
Technically, it's a rocket, not a jet; the difference is that the oxidizer (plain air, in this case) is already in the engine (or vehicle), not sucked in from an external source.

OOOOK, its just a japanese paper baloon thats full of gas. Cool idea but totally not your own. Great idea tho, cool use for the hundreds of paper balloons i have floating around my house. Parhaps a moar flamable gas would spice things up a bit more!
Sep 24, 2008. 3:41 AMdarkinertia says:
what are you talking about? he made that balloon....oh wait no he didnt.... but he invented the lighter! oh not that either.... i guess this is cool, but it works so much better with a coke can and a BBQ lighter so you dont burn your hand.

They don't allow video instructables, you can have a video, but to qualify as an instructable it must have step by step written instructions. video instuctables seem to get overlooked by the mods.

I always make these, but i call them water bombs, and DONT fill them will slightly dangerous lighter fluid. Oh, who am i kidding? Of course i do!

very cool, and if you are good enough, you can make them with a very small piece of paper and throw them at people. i didn't succeed in making it rocket away, though. the video is creasetastic!

You're welcome! :)
Sep 20, 2008. 9:42 PMGonazar says:
i've never heard a person say 'crease' so many times. I imagine the process is well ingrained into the audience's heads now because of repetitive instruction. Good job on that! But I agree with Kolinilok, Thats a rocket, whereas a jet engine would have airflow.
Sep 20, 2008. 9:24 PMKoliniloK says:
That is a rocket engine. There is no airflow through the engine, and (other than a ramjet) there need to be moving parts (compressor and drive blades). This doesnt mean im not going to build a paper rocket though. I like the idea :)
