The idea for this is fantastic, but it did not turn out like I had hoped Pizza Monkey Bread would be. I will do it again but I will change the amounts of some ingredients. For example:
- I thought 1/2 cup of olive oil was too much and had only used 1/4 cup of oil and 1/4 cup of spices.
-I found that 1/4 cup of each was still way too much. The flavour was nice, but just too much of it.
-As well the oil dripped to the bottom of the pan and made the bottom pieces very oily. Next time I will use it only sparingly and sprinkle a small amount of spices between each layer of balls
Thanks for the recipe!

It's mainly because of the look of it when you take it out of the bundt pan! Thanks for the comments!!

Why is it called "Monkey Bread"?

(no one knows for sure)

WolfKodi (author)karossii2011-10-27

I half suspected you came up with it. ;)

karossii (author)WolfKodi2011-10-27

I grew up with that traditional monkey bread (also called monkey brains just as frequently) as a Sunday morning breakfast ritual of sorts; most every week on Sunday (sometimes on Saturday as well or instead), we'd have monkey bread for breakfast.

I asked where the name came from, and was told "That's just what it is called..."

Oh my, I cannot imagine eating the brains of a monkey. :)
