A cool clock looks pretty good when it's falling, but the impact on the ground is a bummer. Drill a hole in the horizontal part of the clock to accommodate a nail.

When I was little, my Christmas stocking was held up by a Santa that sat on the mantle. he was balanced just perfectly that he didn't fall and could support weight. That (putting a counterweight underneath the horizontal bit) could keep you from having to nail it into place. It would also allow for mobility, in a sense...
