Now you can hang the clock on a mantle or a bookshelf. The trick is to find a place that has enough room for the clock movement. and once you do, be sure to nail the clock down so that it doesn't fall off. Now make a few more for your friends who would enjoy it and ease on out of the ultra-consumer fest that we do to celebrate time passing.
The clock I used was $3, and is now $2, from Ikea. Since I live close to one and stop by occasionally for other stuff, this makes the clock cheaper. It's often not too hard to find an old clock for free, either.
I've bought movements online as well to get different hands or a high torque movement. It's all a matter of what you need.
Greatest...instructable...ever. I made one crazy fast for a friend around christmas and it turned out awesome. I took the advice of on eof the other comments and decided to add a weight (the box) as opposed to making my buddy nail his mantle (interpret that how you may). But really, it turned out amazing. yes, i'm proud.
I like to make things both useful and odd. The odd projects are usually more fun. I'm also the Content Manager here at Instructables. Follow @edabot for more
