Step 6 The End Result

Now you just sit back and relax knowing unsuspecting victims are getting their computers shut down thinking there is something seriously wrong. :)

If you really want to be mean, you can delete the program you named your shortcut altogether. You can do this by going into Control Panel-Add or remove programs- and uninstalling it.

Something that's similar to the image below should pop up, and after the counter runs out, the computer will shut off automatically. The only way to stop this is if someone deletes the shortcut, but I doubt they will figure out that's what's causing the shutdowns.

If you can't make it look real on school or work computers, you can just make this at your own computer and copy the shortcut to a disk. Bring the disk to the computer you want to screw with and pop it in. Go to the disk drive from my computer, and copy the shortcut from there to the desktop and then take out your cd. You can use it over and over again.

Mine didn't work...it had the cmd prompt screen flash quickly and then nothing happened...?

ya, same here, what do i do? cmd showed for about 5 sec, then went away and no results... i typed: Shutdown -m\\FAMILY -s -f -t "10" -c "haha"

May I ask why you typed -m\\FAMILY? That is nowhere in the instructions and probably why it doesn't work.

and you're supposed to type the computer name after -m

OMG!!! If this can cause a computer to shutdown when pressed and when it is put in the startup folder it automatically shuts it down when the computer starts... dont school computers run sort of on the same desktop (ie. you move an icon on 1 computer then it moves on another as well) from a main server in a type of server - client setup, then if you put it in the startup folder on 1 client computer wont it cause the same thing to happens to EVERY SINGLE COMPUTER IN THE NETWORK. I mean lol put it on one and the entire school system fails when restarted and thge system takes forever to fix. Im not sure but is that true about the server client system?

dont forget to put it in the startup folder that way if u login , it shutsdown (to remove use safemode)

you can also stop it by going to "run" on the start menu and typing in: shutdown -a
