Introduction: How to Make a Draped Vest From a T-shirt

About: In a valiant attempt to keep myself from dying of boredom, I create.
Have you seen those great vests that are all draped and flowing down the front?  Want?  Me too.  Here is a way to make a simple one, out of a simple (read "plain" here) t-shirt.  No sewing machine, nothing but scissors and a flat place to lay out the t-shirt.  Because I am a large woman, I got a new, black , size M 2x t-shirt for this vest,  I have a black skirt and red and black top that such a vest would look great on.  Here we go.

Step 1:

Supplies:
T-shirt (larger than you normally wear and color of your choice, +/- $5)
Fabric scissors

Step 2:

Lay the T-shirt on a flat surface.

Step 3:

Cut off the hem.

Step 4:

Cut off the arms.

Step 5:

Cut up each side.

Step 6:

Cut an even amount around the neck.

Step 7:

Lay out your vest.
To try it on, stick one arm through the neck hole and the other arm through the same neck hole.  One of the shoulder seams will be along the back of your neck and the other shoulder seam will be down the center of your back.  This is where you determine whether or not you need to remove more material from the neck hole, so that it fits comfortably.

Step 8:

Adjust as needed.

Step 9:

See how the material from body of the t-shirt, drapes down the front of the vest, beautiful!  Enjoy!
