How To Make a Duct Tape Flower
This is an easy project that just takes a little patience you can make one in about half an hour or even faster once you get the hang of it. These flowers can have many different colors and shapes. These are fun to show off and will impress your friends.

Step 1: Supplies

To start you will need to gather your supplies. You will need:
• 2 Colors of Duct Tape (1 will work but 2 looks better)
• A pen or pencil (make sure it is just a solid cylinder with no curves)
•A Cutting-mat or Cutting Board
• A Ruler
• A Knife of some sort

Step 2: Starting the Flower

Next rip/cut off a piece of duct tape off that is 1 ½ - 2 inches long. Wrap the piece of tape around the pen leaving a quarter inch sticking off the end you DON’T write with. Next pinch the end of the duct tape together forming a ridge of duct tape on the end of the pen.

Step 3: Preparing the Tape

Start ripping off five pieces of tape 6 to 7 inches long and laying them on the cutting board. Be sure to alternate colors of duct tape so you have an equal amount of each color. If you want to make a pattern to your flower other than the one in this instructable now is the time to do it, so choose the colors of tape you will want to use.

Step 4: Making the Petals

Now we will start making the petals. Take your knife and cut the pieces of duct tape in half length wise. Then cut them into quarters so you one piece of tape separated into eight. Pick up all the pieces of tape of f the cutting board and separate them so you can work with them easier.

Now pick up one of the pieces of tape and fold the corner sticky side to sticky side so that there is some sticky material on the side and on the bottom. Next fold the other corner over leaving a piece of sticky material on the bottom. Your petal should look like a triangle with a rectangle on the bottom. If you don’t understand the instructions look at the pictures they pretty much explain what I’m talking about. Do this to all the pieces of tape.

Step 5: Making the Flower

Now pick up your pen. Take a petal and wrap the sticky side around the pen. Do this four times so that it goes all the way around the pen. Now get your second color of petals and wrap them around the side in the spaces that the first layer didn’t cover. Keep doing this each time set the petals just a little higher up. If you put the layers to high each time, you will have a skinny flower that is deep. If you don’t set each layer of petals higher each time you will have a very flat wide flower.

Step 6: Finishing the Flower

Keep adding petals until they are all gone. Look at your flower and decide if you want to make it bigger or not. If you decide to make it bigger cut the strips of tape in to quarters instead of eighths. This will give you bigger petals resulting in a bigger flower. If you want to use the flow as a decoration you can make it bigger, but if you actually want to use the flower pen to write you may not want to make it too big or it will get heavy on one end and be hard to write with.

Step 7: Finishing

Almost done, take some tape and make a stem around the pen so the pen is the same color as your flower. That’s it! Tips: Be patient! Don’t rush through your flower or it will look sloppy. There are many different ways to make these other than how I showed you this is just my favorite kind.
