Are you enjoying an inflatable swimming pool for the summer?  Chances are you are not enjoying the dirt that collects at the bottom of it.  Here is how to inexpensively build your own handheld pool vacuum that will make cleaning up dirt a breeze.

Step 1: Supplies Needed

Plastic tubing - at least 1" diameter, length will vary depending on your pool size
Plastic funnel
Rubber band
Knee-high pantyhose
Hot glue gun

Step 2:

Start by using the hot glue gun to attach the plastic tubing to the funnel.  Make sure to put plenty of glue both inside the tubing and on the outer edge where the two items connect.  You want to get a good seal that will not leak air or water.

Step 3:

Now take the panty hose and stretch over the opening of the funnel.  Use the rubber band to secure the pantyhose to the funnel.  The pantyhose serves as a filter to catch dirt as it is sucked up.

Your pool vacuum is now complete!  Super easy, right?

To use it, simply take the end with the funnel and press it against the suction filter inside your pool.  The suction power will pull the funnel against it and create a seal.  You then use the other end of the tubing as the vacuum end to pick up dirt and debris in your pool. A tip - make sure all air bubbles are out of the tube before you begin.
