How to Make a Leather Journal

This was my first time to make such kind of leather journal, it took me some time to figure out the sewing, and I am happy with the result, hope you guys too.

STEP 1: Materials and Tools

  • cutting mat
  • leather
  • journal inserts
  • needle
  • thread
  • hammer
  • punch
  • cutter
  • ruler-scissor

STEP 2: Make the Leather Cover

Punch holes in the leather according to the Hole Punching Diagram.

STEP 3: Prepare the Inserts

Use the same way to punch holes in the journal inserts.

STEP 4: Sewing

Put the rough side of the leather up, pass the needle through the 1st insert and hole A1, stitch back through the hole A1 and leave a loop on the smooth side, then stitch A2/A3/A4, and B4/B3/B2/B1, C, D, E.

STEP 5: Make a Leather Strap for Closure

Cut a long leather strap to use to close the leather journal.

STEP 6: Done

A unique, beautiful and vintage look handmade leather journal.
